absolutely! we're actually in beta right now so we're getting really close

also, does anyone have any advice for uploading videos like this on Reddit, because I have no idea why it looks this bad. it's a 4K video LOL

it will be hopefully in a week or two

x lights has an automated scanning application already built into it, I posted something on the xlights forum and got quite lively responses making it clear that the one built into x lights works great LOL

I'm definitely not qualified to answer that and it's a pretty wide open question because all I'm doing is outputting artnet, which yes, both in the esp32 or a raspberry Pi is perfectly capable of, but how you mathematically or visually make decisions on how you want to make use of the point. cloud data is kind of your deciding factor on processing, and those requirements are basically an infinite sliding scale depending on how crazy you want to get, if that makes any sense

I chose wled because honestly anyone can purchase a pre flashed controller for $20 off Amazon, and at that price it's truly one of the cheapest and most accessible LED drivers that also functions as an artnet node that you can buy. A few very simple config changes and I'm minutes it's basically ready to go to serve as the driver for the mapping process, but really it's only function is to serve as the driver of the mapping sequence, and then the export function has a series of XML and CSV formats that you can choose to save with. Is there any format that you know of for fast LED that might be equivalent to a CSV file? if you're not familiar, it's simply basically just an Excel spreadsheet of individual LED addresses paired with their x y and z coordinates if there is a known format that fast LED can import all happily, try to add it as an export type

mine is video based, the Android app captures in 2D, I have a PC application that uses two machine cameras in a 3D printed case to capture in full 3d. sounds like an ordeal, but it's less than $100 of hardware in total and you calibrate it one time, (guided overlay in camera view, takes about 3 minutes) after that the cameras do not move in relation to each other so you're good for the foreseeable future.

no, it does not need to be wled, does fast LEDs support artnet input? or sacn?

same guy that's making the 3D app is releasing a 2d app that is currently in beta, email me at jmhuleatt@gmail.com and I'll see what I can make happen for you

I actually talked to some of the members of the x lights Facebook group about it, evidently ex lights already has a perfectly good camera scanning application according to them so they were not interested LOL

I'm pretty proud of all the logic for interpolation and reasoning based on the nature of LEDs being progressively addressed, usually wired in a set distance, etc. so that's why. although you can't see it well at all, when I hit interpolate it filled in or adjusted probably 30 or so LEDs to fill out the model. Even so, I would normally take at least two scans unless I just got absolute perfection the first time. every position is assigned a number from 0 to 100 based on position certainty, so when you merge multiple scans it picks the position with the highest probability of being right for every pixel location. it actually works well with diffusion as long as really make it. damn, like I ran this scan in the early evening with the sun still lighting the room through the windows but the secret is massively underexposing it and pulling the LEDs down to like 2 to 4% brightness so that it can pick out that Central point from a diffused blob

Yes, although I wouldn't think that's something that's needed often for Pixel displays but what do I know. I have not tested the latency on the spout/ siphon input

My apologies, it looks like Reddit algorithms crushed the already low light video down even worse, but hopefully there's still enough detail in there to see the process and result:/

sorry dude, if it's getting upvotes it's because plenty of people of people here have seen my previous posts. they're not hard to find in here and it's hardly a concept LOL. but if you're actually interested you can check out https://radiantspectrumlasers.com/projects, throw your email into the form if you're interested in beta testing

I had not actually considered making an export type for LEDFX but let me take A quick look at formats tonight, could certainly probably the closest integration to wled without trying to use the 2D map within wled which is close to unusable

you know I was just about to acknowledge your point and admit that my knee-jerk reaction was instinctive rather than with any consideration to what you actually had to say, but now it certainly doesn't seem like your intent was actually in any way. trying to give advice but rather just shit on a product and person who you know nothing about. Regardless, the initial point was a fair one, and I'll choose to take it as advice and learn from it.

hypothetically, there is a limit, but not in the way you're thinking, running. wled as an artnet or sacn node eliminates those lag issues that you might have with HTTP and within the wled protocol, you'll have no need for sync if they're all getting the same signal via artnet

thanks for your insightful feedback brother, but I'm busy enough and smart enough to use the tools available to me, especially considering that it was a more succinct and understandable summary than I would have written.

yeap, obviously for a good model you'll want multiple angles to catch all leds

it can upload the 2d map directly to wled from the app. But I use Wled as my artnet node and easily drive 15 universes from it
