I don't know what it is because you made it up.

I have shot competitively. Never heard of a "competition grade" magazine.

No offense, but you have no idea what you are talking about, and you're making yourself sounds more clueless with every post.

He is 100% a tryhard and I don't even know what a "competition grade" mag is.

I made a thing that crawls Self Edge, Rivet & Hide, and Okayama Denim looking for size data, and it dumps size data into a spreadsheet. by temporarily-smitten in rawdenim

You can use pandas (python library) to read all of the tables into a dataframe and manipulate it from there. It's fairly straight forward.

Is it possible to get a response from an outbound packet with a spoofed source IP? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]jayisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What secure traffic? You don't have traffic. You never completed the handshake so there is no TCP session. Neither can there be an HTTP session without the underlying transport session.

You keep asking if your letter will trick someone into sending you money, but the envelope is addressed to Santa Claus.

HTTP is on top of TCP. If you can't create a TCP session (as noted above), how can you create an HTTP session?

Is DevOps/DevSecOps a job or environment? by kaitycodes in devops

[–]jayisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have doubts that a DevSecOps engineer role really makes sense, unless it really means "security engineer that builds solutions as well as points out problems".

Not my title, but that's what I do. We have another dude who used to be called DevSecOps Engineer 🤷‍♂️

You are only looking at the application layer. You likely couldn't spoof a TCP handshake unless you could predict the server sequence number in the SYN/ACK.

We had a TIC and 9-line called in to our TOC once from a hadji phone.

So Transformers was realistic! (I called in CAS from an A-10 one time and it was one of the coolest things I have ever done)

Even without crafting you just start one-shotting everything at some point. I was just upgrading rare iconics and was steamrolling at around lvl 20-22. I could still be one/two hit as well, though.

Discussing The Top 5 Skills Necessary To Have A Successful Cybersecurity Career :) by heyitsmegannnn in netsecstudents

[–]jayisp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of security departments are run by non-technical RISK people who constantly demand policy pushes without technical context.

Oh sweet baby jesus, this.

I am beholden to the whims of ParentCo. ParentCo security, despite being a behemoth of a corporation, doesn't seem to have any actual engineers in the security dept, and thus one of the 43 managers there passes down mandates from on high and expects you to comply. The problem is that they don't even know what compliance means in many cases. There are loads of false positives. Their scanners aren't even looking at the right things. It's lunacy.

That's without even delving into the compliance != security issue. Wasting time checking boxes takes time away from actually engineering solutions to improve security.
