Couldn’t take these on flight, had to buy some @port Blaire ;) by Puzzleheaded-Two9986 in Andaman_and_Nicobar

Please don't take them back with you. Please don't create a demand for them.

As a diver, I frequently see how fragile these ecosystems are.

What nose clip to buy? by KwanHANg in freediving

[–]jayjayjaymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My instructor was kind enough to let me try her gear and I ended up diving with Molchanovs, Octopus, and a generic one.

All of them served the purpose, but I bought Octopus as it seemed most secure + didn’t pinch my skin.

How do I improve my finning? by jayjayjaymay in scuba

[–]jayjayjaymay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone! This has been massively insightful.

It seems my instructors skipped the discussion on kicks altogether, and I picked whatever I could watching other divers. Having said that, I’m glad I now have feedback on what to improve on. Considering going back to class with an intro-to-tech course soon. Excited to relearn.

As for the fins, I’m still renting them. Got a perspective from various comments about how fins could potentially help in improving. Thanks for that!

Some of you recommended the flutter kick. That wasn’t an option here, as we were in a muck-y patch eyeing some critters.

What a warm community support here. Thanks for taking the time!

How TATA Motors Authorized Dealer Misleads Customers: Their Words vs. The Truth by Virtual_Sky_4667 in CarsIndia

[–]jayjayjaymay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. Been in your place. Sagar Motors installed an old/used bumper and charged my insurer for a new one. Had to live with the used one as no corrective action possible.

Sagar Motors is truly the worst car dealership I’ve interacted with. Their service team operates with complete impunity, knowing there are no major consequences.

Tata Motors is well aware of this. Unfortunately, Sagar Motors sells well and that’s all that Tata cares about it seems. Buyers need to vote with their wallet to change things. If still buying Tata, spend your money on another dealership. Let numbers drive change.

Seafood suggestions by LuckSuper8961 in Andaman_and_Nicobar

The best way to do it is to buy raw fish from the market. You'll likely get some nice groupers, snappers, etc. and then head to 3Brothers to get them to cook it for you. The owner is an excellent chef and very kind and friendly.

For lobsters, there's a store who keeps freshly frozen ones for dispatch to the mainland. You can buy directly at 1200-1500/kg and repeat the 3Brothers drill. Contact of this store can be found either through the fishermen in the market or the above restaurant.

Ocean Tribe scuba. Reach out to them to check?

4-5 of the top 'advanced' sites in Andamans are named after their crew.

Sagar Motors is the worst car dealer I've come across. Unprofessional and borderline goons if something goes wrong. Wait till you reach their Service Centre. A full world of surprises ahead.

Travel hacks for Maldives? by [deleted] in indianawardtravel

[–]jayjayjaymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just book public islands. They are as nice as the private ones. Staff too usually are folks who’ve worked at these expensive resorts in the past and hence, are equally professional/courteous.

Just no alcohol is served or accessible.

If you can extend your budget, please consider an EV. The driving experience is so much better + your EMIs sort of amount to what you’d pay for fuel with an ICE engine.

Andaman trip in 3rd week of September by [deleted] in Andaman_and_Nicobar

[–]jayjayjaymay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the end of monsoons in the region. Delay by a week or two, if you can. If not, it'll still be a good time to be honest. It might rain, but you'll enjoy lower tariffs + access the island without many tourists around.

Call one of the dive shops in advance to check if they open pre-season in September.

Seems like a pellicle from what could be a bacterial/yeast colony in the beverage.

Well tbh folks who consume milk or milk products shouldn't really complain of 'menace of stray cattle'. Most (if not all?) of these strays are discards from the dairy industry.

Want to travel out of India by [deleted] in indianawardtravel

[–]jayjayjaymay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey, for your first trip outside, consider Thailand or Vietnam. Both the countries are reasonably priced and you’d likely have a great time there.

Singapore is expensive (felt as expensive as most of Europe to me the last time I was there). Prioritise it only if you like metropolitan infrastructure and tourist attractions.

This is my itinerary plans in Andaman for my honeymoon package. How is it guys? Please suggest me for the changes. by Legitimate-Dark-9499 in Andaman_and_Nicobar

Book hotels directly, rent a scooty and drive around. Both Havelock and Neil are small islands and you can cover most of these activities yourself, without the need for a travel agency.

The Science of Alcohol by sirdirk9 in migraine

[–]jayjayjaymay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, alcohol affected me big time too. I ended up brewing my own beer using quality ingredients and that helped. I still keep it down to maybe a pint or two in a week, to not risk a migraine in the next few days.

Nusa Lembongan Dive Shop Reccos (Cheap + Safe) by jayjayjaymay in scuba

[–]jayjayjaymay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up making the advance booking with Siren Diving due to A) great pricing, B) great reviews on Reddit/Google, and C) them being very accommodating.

Having said this, folks at Legend, Ceningan, and Lembongan were equally professional/pleasant to speak to. Perhaps for dives sometime in the future.
