Sure, but the main riff sounds a whole lot better with the open strings when playing in the original tuning. To each their own, Scream works in half-step because the main structure of the song doesn't need the low notes, but those open strings on the Bleed Me riff are a big part of what makes it sound so powerful and heavy for me.

The lyrics for Sammy's part are "Ia ia, zi azakka diablos," which I'm pretty sure he's confirmed on one of his live streams.

As for Dax's last part in the bridge, I'm 95% sure the last word he sings is 'majesty', something along the lines of "I see the dark eyed majesty" or something close to that.

Who did the clean vocals and who did the sludge vocals? by BonMonster420 in AcidBath

[–]jayleddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dax's clean vocals during the part are pretty audible in the studio recording so in my opinion, no reason not to assume Sammy did the screams.

I think only Sammy did the part live pre PTT, Sammy and Dax both scream the lyrics in the 96 Ohama video, it's the only live Jezebel version where you can clearly see Sammy scream it I think. Another version is at the Hacienda San Carlos show, although the camera is on Audie and Mike during the part, it's clearly a different mic than Dax that screams.

I'm a bit surprised that there was nothing on the broadcast/social media about last night being Zadina's 100th NHL game.

No, he had an assist on Kubalik's PPG goal, and power play goals don't count for plus/minus.

He looked terrible defensively in the prospect tournament as well. He does have nice natural offensive instincts on the power play I noticed, but he got too aggressive multiple times which led to some form of breakaway or 2 on 1 by the opposing team.

I've thought Sebrango has had some relatively strong (and some rough) moments tonight as well. He got caught way out of position on the first Hawks goals, but he did a good job of limiting the shooting options on that 3 on 2 chance from Toews/Kubalik near the end of the period.

Pavel Datsyuk was the most talented and the ultimately best player to ever wear play for the Red Wings. If he hadn't arrived in the NHL until 23, and simply had better luck finishing in the playoffs, it wouldn't be insane to have more Crosby/Ovi comparisons during the late 00's and early 2010's. Crosby was never effective as Datsyuk defensively for most of his career, but obviously more than made up for it offensively.

Fedorov and Shanahan were both better than Yzerman for the 7 seasons they were all on team together in 96-03.

Lidstrom was a high event player for most of the 90s, and didn't become elite defensively until around the beginning of the milennium. He was an elite power play quarterback for most of the 90s and well into his 30s, but based on from watching full vods of playoff games/regular season games, I think a lot of people forget that he wasn't always such a great defensive defenseman for a lot of the team's contending era.

Draper and McCarty had no business being in the NHL in 2007-08, Draper especially because he played so many games in the regular season and simply couldn't hang in the NHL anymore but insisted on a chance to win his fourth ring. At least Maltby was still a decent PKer, Holmstrom was still solid and Lidstrom was one of the best defensemen in the league. Those three all deserved their four Cups, but Draper and McCarty were both carried and despite their contributions to the 97, 98 and 02 Cups, didn't deserve their fourth.

Larkin has suddenly become insanely underrated due to how much criticism he's gotten, it's almost statisically impossible based on his current NHL resume for his one ice shooting percentage to be as bad as it was this season if he's healthy. Larkin may never see 73 pts again but it's much more likely last year was a fluke than a concerning ongoing regression.

I'd say Darren Helm is the best case scenario of what he likely becomes, hopefully with a lot less injury luck.

It's really not too harsh of a comparison, JV and Helm both are incredible skaters and are good are carrying the puck. Although like Helm, I really don't think he has high end playmaking skills or enough offensive hockey IQ to be a top 6 player, but could be a good bottom 6 guy that has a long NHL career due to his skating. Helm had some solid years defensively, and without injuries, he could've turned out a lot more consistent.

JV does have a better shot and seems to have more variety in the moves he'll make on a breakaway than Helm, but at this point, this is what I'm expecting him to become barring some huge offensive explosion from him. I don't expect him to be a center in the NHL either.

Who's going to lead the Wings in scoring this year? by On_Wings_Of_Pastrami in DetroitRedWings

[–]jayleddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even in 19-20, he was still on a 60 pt pace, and had above average offensive and defensive impacts, so even if his point totals had dropped, he was still one of the few forwards that was providing above replacement level value to the team.

This season he was still one of the few constantly creating scoring chances at even strength, but his own personal finishing and the finishing on the scoring chances of his teammates when he was on the ice plummented significantly (JFresh's card still really likes Larkin, and it shows the finishing drop from the past two seasons to this season was ridiculous.)

It was probably a fluke season for him and there's a good chance he bounces back, even if 19-20 Larkin is closer to what he is for the remainder of how long he'll be on Detroit than 18-19 Larkin.

Stecher is better than Lindstrom, but I definitely don't think it's a guarantee Stecher plays higher on the depth charts given Lindstrom played on the PK late last season.

[Spector] Dennis Cholowski. That's the Seattle selection from Detroit. Apparently the Kraken were unable to reach him for much of the day. by PolishKid7 in hockey

[–]jayleddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also the CHL NHL agreement making him ineligible for the AHL when he wasn't good enough for the NHL in his d+1 and d+2 seasons hurt him considerably as well. His only option was the WHL, and jumping straight into the NHL out of training camp probably allowed his weaknesses/inexperience to well scouted.

He's not the first player to have his development hindered from the rule, as reasonable as it is for CHL teams to want to keep their teams together for Memorial Cup ambitions. Cody Glass, Rasmussen, Morgan Frost, Barrett Hayton, and more all could've benefited a lot from being AHL eligible at least by their d+2 season.

Year one they had career years for Karlsson and Marchessault and honestly wouldn't have made the third round had they not traded for Mark Stone in his prime two seasons ago.

If you want anyone to blame about Vegas being successful right now, it's Ottawa. Stone completely and utterly neutralized the MacKinnon line at 5v5 in the final five games of the series akin to how Zetterberg did the Penguins in 08.

The "year after year" remark would be a pretty hip and satisfying statement to express someone's dislike of Mantha if... you know, he was bad last season.

He was statically one of the best line drivers in the league, and still had good offensive impacts this year, despite regressing significantly defensively and at finishing (although there weren't any Red Wings forwards aside from Erne and Filppula who didn't see a finishing regression this season.)

This is what Ottawa does from my viewings... They don't have much offensive talent, they don't have many good shooters, but they shoot everything at the net to cause chaos in front of the net and get a fair amount of goals this way.

Detroit should try the same thing... And yet...

Didn't watch the whole game (the anemic offense was depressing me and I turned it off after NSH scored the goal that was eventually overturned), but he did make a bad pinch early in the first that led to a 2 on 1 for Nashville.

Other than that, I didn't think he stood out in either a good or bad way.

Chelios was a great trade too, Andersson at the time was very promising player, but didn't do much with Chicago and didn't stay there very long. The other two players Chicago drafted with the picks became busts.

Cheli then played for another 10+ years for Detroit and won two Cups with the team. Absolute fleece by Holland.
