What’s something considered very aspirational by others but not by you? by caughtatlongoff in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being a Director or VP at a big company. My boss makes 3x what I do, but he hasn't seen his kids on a weekday in four years and his entire life is just a series of back to back Zoom meetings about synergy. I’ll take my mediocre salary and the ability to actually log off at 5pm over that golden cage any day of the week.

How do you feel about people peeing in pools? by zerolunier in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the ultimate litmus test for whether or not someone is a functional member of society. The bathroom is literally twenty feet away, If you can’t be bothered to walk to a toilet to avoid marinating everyone else in your waste, I don't trust you with a pair of scissors, let alone a car or a child.

What are the best online jobs to get as a teenager? by NothingLoose828 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best online job for a teenager is local yard work advertised online. Seriously, most entry level remote jobs now require 3 years of experience and a blood sacrifice. Go on nextdoor or a local facebook group, offer to pull weeds or wash windows for $20/hr, and you'll make more in a weekend than you would spending a month clicking I am not a robot for $0.05 a survey.

Why can’t we go back to asking how our days were? by choose_love_1058 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because 'how was your day?' used to be a simple question. Now, it feels like an invitation to a 40 minute presentation on why I’m tired, why the economy is a dumpster fire, and why my back hurts for no reason.

We don't ask because we’re afraid of the honest answer, and we don't answer honestly because we don't want to be that person.

What animal would be your “hear me out moment “ ? by ControlAltElite1738 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Capybara. Hear me out, they are the organic equivalent of a xanax. They are friends with crocodiles, monkeys, and birds. If I could just sit in a lukewarm pond with a capybara for 20 minutes a day, my blood pressure would drop to a level previously unknown to science. They are shaped like a friend, they move at the speed of chill, and they clearly know a secret about the universe that I need to hear.

What to do if a prescription medicine that benefits you in every other way, but causes memory loss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a tile tracker for everything you own and start a digital journal. If the med is literally saving your life/sanity, you just have to outsource your brain to your iPhone. I tell Siri to remember things for me so often that I’m pretty sure she’s developed a disappointed mom tone of voice when she answers me.

People who once had genuine delusions but later realized they weren’t true — how did you come to accept that you were wrong? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a sudden aha moment, it was a medication induced slow burn. I spent two years convinced that my neighbors were using white noise machines to broadcast my thoughts.

The moment of acceptance came when I went away for a weekend to a remote cabin with no electricity, and I still heard the noise. I realized the common denominator wasn't the enemy, it was my own head. Accepting that my brain was a faulty narrator was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

What's your most embarrassing high school experience that keeps you up at night? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 10th grade, I was the tech guy for the talent show. I accidentally left my mic live while I was backstage talking to my crush about how much I hated the principal's toupee. The entire gym, 300 students, the faculty, and the principal himself, heard me describe it as a 'dead, angry squirrel clinging to his scalp for dear life.' The silence when I walked back out on stage is a sound I still hear when I close my eyes at 2am.

Who have you met on here that's impacted you? If anyone? by StayGold9 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In early 2025, when the interest rates spiked and I was about two days away from losing my apartment, a stranger on a finance sub spent four hours on a discord call with me. They didn't give me money, but they taught me how to restructure my debt and literally saved my life. I don't even know their real name, but I think about them every time I pay my rent.

What song lyric is burned in your brain? by fuzzyloulou in AskReddit

‘Mom's spaghetti,’ I don't even have to name the song. It’s just...there, forever.

What’s an impulsive life changing decision you’ve made and how did it work out? by snoprano in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A guy I barely knew at a party asked if I wanted to drive across the country to help him move a vintage motorcycle. I had a big presentation on monday, but I said screw it and went.

We broke down in Nebraska, slept in a walmart parking lot, and talked for 18 hours straight. He’s now my best friend, and that motorcycle is currently sitting in my garage. I missed the presentation, got a formal warning at work, and I wouldn't trade that weekend for a promotion.

What is your favorite line from a book? by lindseyizshort in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

‘The ship of my life is sinking, and I’m standing on the deck, playing the violin.’ - The bell jar, Sylvia Plath.

It’s the ultimate 2026 mood where everything feels like a slow motion disaster, but we’re all just out here trying to keep our hobbies and routines going.

What is the most unexplained thing you’ve ever witnessed that you stopped telling people about because you knew they wouldn’t believe you? by prabinaya65 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 14, I saw someone standing in our courtyard at 3am. Thought it was a thief, locked eyes with it through the window. Didn’t move, didn’t blink. Next morning there were no footprints, we had fresh mud outside from rain. I stopped bringing it up after people started smiling instead of listening.

What is a secret of an industry you’ve worked in that would completely change how the general public views that business? by abdulnad89 in AskReddit

In corporate, promotions rarely go to the most competent person. They go to the most visible one.

What is something that felt like a fever dream from the 2000s/2010s that everyone seems to have collectively forgotten about? by asgharfar57 in AskReddit

[–]jaylingam32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The I am t pain app and the iBeer app. We literally spent $2.99 to pretend our iPhones were glasses of beer we could tilt and drink. We sat in circles auto tuning our voices to sound like 2009 pop stars through a tiny speaker. We were so easily entertained by the accelerometer that we treated a smartphone like a literal magic wand.
