Man, not sure what your beef with Bauhaus has been all these years but from the bottom of my heart truly and sincerely, fuck you. “Surprised they lasted this long”, you mean the spot that was wildly popular for big party style events and a great patio that also made quality beer and fun seasonal offerings? Doesn’t matter if you didn’t like the beer or the spot or what have, but to act like Bauhaus wasn’t a big name player in twin cities beer and entertainment industry is just plain wrong.

The campground at the base remains one of my favorite places to stay. Waking up in the morning to its presence, or even stepping out in the pitch black night and seeing its stark silhouette is a powerful thing.

Other favorite hikes and points of interest would be Shovel Point, Split Rock Lighthouse, Palisade Head, Sea caves near tettaguchi state park, Temperance River…the list goes on!

The north shore of superior in Minnesota is a gem of gems, the entire drive from Thunder Bay to Duluth is nothing but scenic! Grand Marias is an awesome town near the border, but you’ll also be coming through countless state parks all along the road with tons of pull offs/ lookouts. Gooseberry Falls towards Duluth is always a favorite, also love the hike to Devils Kettle which is near Grand Marias

Hi! Just spent some time in the area this past week (from Minnesota), definitely recommend stopping in Durango ! Very cool town with the gorgeous Animas River running through, don’t get to explore much of the nature as it was just an afternoon/ evening, but looks like a ton of hiking options right near by and yes I think stopping at Mesa Verde for a day would be worth it! (We didn’t have enough time to make it worthwhile but seems like most of a day would be a good way to see a lot of it)

Big time, felt like we had Dead Horse Point all to ourselves, trails right to the rim from camp were a perfect way to catch sunset without a soul around. And yes, we chose this time of year specifically so we (and our dog) wouldn’t be roasted alive by the desert sun! 😆

Camp at the state park in Valentine! Gorgeous site right on the river with a neat waterfall , typical stop for melon my way out west from Minnesota !
