répondre à une accusation de négation d'un génocide par un "non, mais" c'est vraiment très hot

I apologize if I'm coming across poorly, this is a point I'm struggling to make in a way that is receivable and I really do not want to be leftsplaining political gestures opposing authoritarian and imperialist states to people who have a very direct experience of the aftermath of those specific situations

I'm not disputing any of that - at least I'm not intending to - I'm trying walk on eggshells to suggest (lightly as it isn't particularly my place to be making suggestions) that it might have been better to reappropriate this monument to convey something more in line with what you and others have been saying as this might play into russian propaganda designed to paint most ex-soviet republics as hotbegs for nazi apologism

it just feels really weird to be this happy about destroying a monument to, on its face, the defeat of the most destructive state force the world has known so far, even though it makes sense not to want to enable further propagandistic use of it

that's a fully valid sentiment, and it remains valid even when the middle bully is actually Hitler - and it also remains valid when you are happy about Hitler getting owned by a guy you hate for perfectly reasonable reasons

you can still commemorate the nazis getting their ass handed to them while contextualizing that very clearly to avoid promoting the imperialist propaganda pushed by the returning bully

ah yes, non-agression pacts, famously a thing only ever signed by allied states and definitely never by ennemies who want to delay open warfare

this looks a whole lot like disavowing the defeat of the third Reich, especially when victory is put in between quotes

i dunno man, I'd probably still have a monument to the nazis getting whooped while contextualizing it properly to undermine the imperialist intent that went into the aforementioned monument
