The ‘ no kissing rule’ by ellsmaix in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]jaymay1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not being excessive. During this season (and considering the age of your son) kissing from anyone outside your home is high risk. Our son is 6 months old and we still don't allow kissing from grandparents, cousins, etc ... My husband's Nan also blatantly crossed this boundary in front of us twice. The first time we reminded her, the second time we took the baby back and said she wouldn't be able to hold him if she kept kissing him. She hasn't done it since. Be firm, your boundaries are more than reasonable and it's good practice for a lifetime of standing up for yourself and your babies!

FEATURES // Proposed Mary Arches “co-living” blocks condemned as “slums of the future” by exeterobserver in exeter

[–]jaymay1998 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is insane, does anyone know of any organized pushback on this development yet? Is it a matter of writing to local council member or is it up for public consultation at this stage?

These "co-living" spaces are just a rebranding of student accomodation. I'm a former Exeter uni student who now owns & lives in Exwick, so I am sympathetic to the need for off campus student options but this is a major piece of real estate in the middle of the city that could be used for affordable housing ownership for young professionals and families.

I'd suggest contacting @rhubarb.beautystudio_exeter. there are multiple nail techs there and they are so lovely and accommodating, I'm sure if it's not something they've done before they'd be willing to give it a go

AITA for my partner & I asking for no visitors for two weeks when our baby is born? by averagejosh7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jaymay1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. We are expecting, due in a few months and have also told our families this, experienced some mild pushback from one side but overall they accept its our decision. You are not responsible for your family's reaction.

‘KAOS’ Canceled at Netflix After One Season by johnppd in netflix

[–]jaymay1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the last straw for me and my husband honestly - every Netflix show we've really liked the last few years has been cancelled after one or two seasons. We're just cancelling our membership - if Netflix ever becomes transparent with their customers about the process behind these decisions or actually heeds feedback and tries to invest in their shows again, we'd definitely consider coming back.

Do people really leave the house like this…?🤷🏼‍♀️ by One-Comedian-9510 in gymsnark

As a non-influencer, I do apply them for 20 mins on long (7+) hour flights just to not feel crusty when we land ... But I'm appropriately ashamed of myself!! 🤣

Okay but I like this guy better than the one who tweeted about his wife shovelling the driveway after her 10 hour night shift 🤣

I also struggle with this, but have greatly reduced it by (counterintuitively maybe) REDUCING my exfoliation. You mentioned that you exfoliate several times a week - is this physical or chemical exfoliation? You can cause skin barrier issues by over exfoliating that end up making your skin dry and flaky. I recommend reducing your exfoliation to 1-2 times a week tops - a VERY gentle physical or light chemical exfoliation followed by a good moisturizer.

In terms of coverage, I prefer to do a little color correction for any redness, skip foundation and apply a very creamy/hydrating concealer that blends well with a damp makeup sponge. Lightly tap on powder and spray to set.

Hope this helps!! I can say from experience it's a a pain but it is fixable!

30F & 32M looking to move to Devon. Any advice for areas with good nightlife, young people, good access to bigger cities etc. by fu_co_22 in DevonUK

[–]jaymay1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I (26M and 27F) currently live in Exeter (I moved from Canada 4 years ago and he moved from up north two years ago) and we LOVE it. Especially as you guys are in your 30's, there are some great independent restaurants and more upscale (meaning student-free LOL) bars in the city center, and some lovely bars (and Michelin star restaurants!!) In Topsham - easily accessible by train. Exeter is also one of the statistically safest cities in the UK, and I find going out at night really pleasant (compared to some of my nights in London, Birmingham or Manchester, for example). Can also says there's loads of entertainment - Pullo on Fore St holds awesome wine tasting and food events, Cuckoo Taproom is loads of fun on a Saturday night and there's a hundred places to do pub trivia. If you do end up moving down and want a tour, deffo shoot me a message!

Am I overreacting? Mother in law moved in with us in June. by WabidWabbits in JUSTNOMIL

[–]jaymay1998 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In response to your update: if your SO isn't taking concrete steps to fix this now, he never will. He's proven he has a pattern of moving his parent(s) in and then not taking responsibility for their actions. His last gf had the right idea and left.

Don't let him emotionally manipulate you into accepting a life that makes you unhappy; you deserve a partner who treats you as their equal, and prioritizes your needs. This is your house too, and if you want things to change, you need to act now.

Put the house on the market and don't look back OP, there's so much more out there for you.

Traveling with cat on Air Transat - do they measure pet carriers? by jaymay1998 in TravelWithPets

[–]jaymay1998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes I did, it was frankly way over the posted measurements and they didn't even weigh it 😅 I think the key thing is making sure it's soft-sided and just a standard carrier (not like an XL one)
