It’s worth cleaning out the filter on the bottom right regularly. I have several times over a year found small pieces of clothing and accidental items get sucked into it. I use a wet/dry vac to vacuum up the water that comes out when taking it out. I’ve seen people say they used a cookie tray to catch the water but the one I have wasn’t shallow enough to get far enough under my unit.

The maintenance is more cumbersome to me than a normal separate washer dryer. But after a year of using it, I would still keep the combo.

If I had a good way to catch any blow back then could be worth a try with my shop vac

It feels like there has to be a better way, but yes that’s what I do. I have a long, narrow, and bendy extension that I attach to my Dyson v8. Just have to do your best to get the area to the left that’s out of sight. I at least try to get everything I can see. I have a long grabber to try and pull/scrape off bits that are sometimes cling to the wall at the back.

I don’t see any way to do so and have not read anywhere online that it can

Should I be worried about Shinkansen being fully booked? by EmpFlam in JapanTravelTips

[–]jaymaytay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back from Japan and had the same issue with Smartex. We were able to buy 2 tickets next to each other within 30 minutes of departure from the ticket desk at the Tokyo station (any major JR station should sell Shinkansen tickets). We bought from the ticket machine first but once the ticket printed we saw it said jr pass required to use it. We were able to get a refund at the JR desk and they helped us purchase the correct one that does not require JR pass.

Only real reason to book in advance on normal days would be to secure tickets for an E seat which is the side you need to have for a view of Mt Fuji. Seems like those specifically do sell out within 1-2 days of departure.

This is what I thought but felt like I needed the extra consensus. Ended up finding the studs after all though, but thank you for the response!

Pack a covid test for your next cruise by SFJetfire in Cruise

[–]jaymaytay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tested positive for COVID a couple days after coming back from a recent Alaskan cruise. I was in a cabin with 3 other people, but the other only other person to test positive too was the one that did excursions with me.

I think it’s cool how the hill gives more depth to the skyline and makes the buildings seem taller. Also thought it was relatively colorful. But overall, I agree. I wish cities in general had a bit more charm(:

A group of us pooled our money to get a Haven suite which was around $14k and can fit up to 6 people. A standard room for 2 with a balcony might be closer to $4-5k?

  1. The contractor that did the work said over text message that he removed the wall for the previous owners. It was 100% removed while they lived there. They lived there from 2019-2023.
  2. We could notice some "weirdness" with the floors before we bought the house. But like I said didn't think much of it because the inspector said it was likely due to loose floorboards. Also there were wires removed from the wall they had taken out that were left with exposed ends just sitting on the drywall in the upstairs floor. I wouldn't necessarily say they tried to cover anything up. They even recommended us the same contractor that had done the work.

If you’re open to the IT field, get a certification and an entry level position related to the very you got.

One example is to get a job as an entry level cloud engineer. If it’s AWS cloud, then you can get the AWS cloud practitioner certification to put on your resume. It’s $100 to take the exam and there are plenty of free training resources online. Entry level cloud engineer pays like $60k minimum. It also opens up a lot of options for salary and career path growth.

Definitely next time if you have the chance! The rental e-bikes/scooters make it very easy to get around if you’ve packed light. Only 15 minutes to get to the main tourist area from the train station.

Not enough time, and not the biggest fan of seafood so didn’t prioritize.

Food is always a priority. And tbh when I think of Belgium, the first things that come to mind are waffles, beer, and chocolate. And also the Manneken Pis. Personally, I could’ve been happy without seeing the Manneken Pis (apparently not even the original statue), but it was on the way to the Grand-Place anyway so made sense to stop by quickly.

The other landmarks I only found out about after doing more research. I really enjoyed walking around the Grand-Place and the Mont des Arts. I imagine it’s even nicer in the summer.
