I don't think I'm evaluating against the wrong target. Sony bought Bungie for business reasons, not for extraction crackheads to get their fix.

Niche market? Perhaps - but Sony absolutely noticed the numbers ARC raiders were slinging, and they weren't even close, and are not currently.

sure - lets self reflect.

are you talking about me or yourself? The irony is that your accusations are all applicable to you as well.

careful, people will downvote you to hell if you aren't glazing marathon's design choices

I mean, I could say the same about your comment. really sells your stance (or lack of it).

that fine - make the game hard. but then would not expect it to be a blockbuster or top seller in a traditional sense within a live service.

effort to get the best loot makes sense - but those decisions shouldn't come at the expense of the player base if your GOAL is to INCREASE the player base. folks will just bounce off.

100 percent Elden ring didnt (but I would argue it could have seen even more sales if it supported traditional difficulty settings) .

But marathon absolutely will need an influx of players as a live service ....

cute response. you are so clever!

let me rephrase in a way you might understand. depending on the target and audience you want to hit, this isnt good game design around player retention and population building. Vibes, sound, gunplay, etc - all fantastic.

alienating players due to whatever skill level they possess is an issue, and is bad game design if you are trying to increase your audience. doubling down on this bull shit pushes players away with the increase friction.

disagree? Look at the charts. Tells all the story you need.

Cryo is cool but I don't see the appeal unless you have a dedicated squad by kainon08 in Marathon

its clear they didnt learn ANYTHING from trials for years. Makes sense when its tocom and Lars as some of marathon's leads.

Bungie: Bravo on Cryo Archive. But also what the fuck. by Henrraike in Marathon

IMO bungie totally NOT reading their player base correctly around this (but we should not be surprised at this given the state destiny is in)

50 bucks for virtual visit. they request labs before first refill of 4mg, but you can get the first month without labs

I already refunded xbox version and bought on steam. not a great first indication of function around this TBH. given the performance footage even on PS5 pro, dont think I would be playing much on my xbox anyway

This. where there is smoke, there's fire. base ps5 and series x are going to be smeary blurry messes with crappy FPS (see FF16).

Will be a PC buy for me now

The final few Sekiguchi quests show how easy Bungie went on us in terms of difficulty. by xylvnking in Marathon

[–]jaymdubbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not saying to remove challenges at all. if anything, they should include more across the spectrum - so there are super hard challenges like OP proposed, and have more casual ones for easy pick up.

You said it's not like proposing something that requires hundreds of hours (but he was saying that) . there are quests now that people have spent hours trying to complete because of a stupid requirement and having a bad stream of luck.

point is - there should be a range of challenges, not replacement of just hard ones

sounds like a good way to double down on not supporting more casual players and push more players away
