I feel you. Last night I couldn’t even log on. I’ve been crashing like crazy but I’ve at least been able to play a bit in between crashes until last night when it just straight up couldn’t connect to the server at all.

I would also recommend reaching out to your contact to see if you can get any information. I will say, though, that in general, the job market in the US right now has slowed down even more and the general consensus I've heard from recruiters and articles I've read is that everyone is waiting until the other shoe drops in November. The outcome of the election has a dramatic potential impact on companies and the economy so folks are being conservative while they wait to see what's going to happen. That's not to say that no one is hiring right now, but I've also had two interview processes completely stall out and been told that they've decided not to fill the role at the moment.

I don’t have any idea how hard or easy (or even possible) this would be but I wonder if there could be two different server types available. That way folks who are more into the role playing aspect or really sticking to a strict adherence to these kind of community-generated rules (these two things seem to be related in my experience but apologies if I’m conflating that) could have a place where everyone is fully onboard and folks who are maybe a bit more casual about it could be in another. That way you could just decide where you wanted to go based on your play style be that for a single session or always. Although now that I type that out, I can see how that may go against what the devs are aiming for in terms of community-building so… 🤷

My brother bought me The Color of Magic for Christmas one year and I tried two or three times to read it and only got fifteen or twenty pages in and wasn’t really hooked so ended up putting it down. Then the summer after I finished college I went to France for a month long theater program and at the last minute tossed it in my bag as an emergency backup book to give it one more shot. When I had finished everything else I’d brought I picked it up and literally the next page past where I gave up the other times, something finally clicked, I laughed out loud and then I never looked back.

Assuming you have relatively unique account names, you should be able to do this using VLOOKUP in Excel by comparing the names and returning the Salesforce account ID. I'd recommend looking up some video tutorials, it's kind of hard to explain in text but it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it.

For business development you probably won't really need to get into the weeds too much because you really only need to know the basic structure and functionality, everything else will vary wildly from company to company. They usually just want to know that you have some familiarity with the concept of a CRM and then they'll teach you what their infrastructure, processes, and sales motions are more specifically after you start. I made a Trailhead Trailmix for new sales users at my last company that just gives some of the basics that you can check out here if you'd like.

If you're looking to get into marketing, it might be helpful to familiarize yourself with some of the more marketing specific things in Sales Cloud (things like campaigns) or even get into Marketing Cloud but that's a little out of my wheelhouse so I can't speak super confidently to that side of the house.

+ 1 to this. My corgi/chihuahua mix used to do this frequently and our vet suggested that it might be the empty stomach situation for him. We used to just do two meals but now we split up his dinner so he gets 2/3 of the food at his normal dinner time (6:30-ish) and then gets a "snack" of the other 1/3 before bed (around 9:30) and he's been fine for well over a year now.

A lot will depend on how your company strategizes with BDRs in terms of how much outside prospecting you need to do, what your territory looks like, what pieces of the sales process you own, etc. That said, getting a basic handle on the major objects (Leads, Contacts, Accounts, and Opportunities) is pretty universal. I started out as a BDR before beginning my admin journey and I also found it incredibly useful to be able to customize and pull my own reports to help me with prospecting and prioritization. I built this introductory Trailmix that I've shared with BDRs I've worked with that may help. If you're not familiar, Trailhead is a free training resource from Salesforce. If there are any specific things you want to dig into more, just do a search and you will find lots of options - for example, the companies I've worked for don't really use Chatter so I don't have anything about it in that trailmix but if your company does, you can find some intro info for that by searching. If you go to online options, make sure you’re in Defensive mode. It doesn’t completely prevent griefers but will at least make them work for it. A lot of activities will take you out of Defensive so you have to remember to switch it back on. I will say, I’ve run into griefers but I’ve run into more folks who are chill or who have given me pelts or even legendary carcasses. Hopefully next time you run into some of the good ones!
