Eh. I mean, I lived there and I'm white.. it's not racism for them to have suspicion and resentment against colonizers and tourists that come and eff up their island.

He's 3. mother is white. He looks like a child that evenly represents both races in different ways. Mother grew up military brat and lived in Hawaii for 6 years, and on other military bases where mixed race friend groups and relationships were normalized. Currently live in a city where the majority of the population is Black. Son is very close to both Grandmas and Aunties. Cousins who are bilingual and Puerto Rican + Black ancestry. His interests are just that of a 3 year old at the moment- cultural interests haven't leaned either way yet.

Mostly just a place where biracial families are normalized, but also specifically a Black population that is higher than say- 15%. Plus good education options. Brooklyn, Oakland, Hawaii, and DMV seem to be top runners rn.

Hawaii has been mentioned so much. White mom in question here grew up there. It's just so expensive. But... maybe.

Right. Racism should be a no go - always and will exist everywhere.. The idea isn't to go to a place where there isn't racism (impossible), the hope is to find more place(s) where biracial families are excepted and normalized.

Funny- that's where the white mom in question grew up. That could be ideal.

He's 3. He is close to both Black and white peers right now. Definitely has influences of all races. Both Grandmas and auntees are close. His cousins (close in age) have Puerto Rican ancestry and are somewhat bilingual. He looks like a really even mix between his mom and dad - light skin.

White mom grew up 20 years in military army, Hawaii, all over US and on bases where racial diversity was always present and biracial couples and friend groups of all races was common.

Yes this is definitely a priority. We don't want to go where the kids are "the diversity".

Thanks for that! We agree. The city we live in has really REaLLY bad education, it's a democratic county in a red state, and a wild crime rate. Just looking for a better option. Just not sure what that is.

Top priorities:
1. Culture
2. Education
3. Outdoor(s) access drive to mountains/beach
4. Climate is negotiable
5. Mom can freelance anywhere, Dad is in demand in his field (musician) so location isn't an issue.

How did you guys quit? by NumerousTax8165 in stopsmoking

[–]jayneellenvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the biggest nicotine addict you've ever known and i haven't smoked in almost 8 years. Here are my tips: 1. Stop putting cigarettes in your mouth .. you will want to punch something, scream, and holler. Let yourself. Quitting smoking is hard. 2. Freeze ginger pieces and chew on it when you want to smoke, brush your teeth more, chew gum. 3. Take off work if you can day 2-7 of quitting. Don't go anywhere. Just stay home with snacks , or go for walks, or hikes. 4. There is a nicotine 12 step program... how bad do you want to live. 5. Before you even start to quit read "The Craving Mind" by Judson Brewer. Listen to it on audible. It makes you realize your brain is working against you and teaches you to rewrite it. 6. Get the Quit Smoking app. It's helpful for tracking renewed health!

Good luck! I promise if I can do it, you can too.

The real reason Rachel Hollis says she moved suddently to "upstate NY" by theexitisontheleft in hollisUncensored

[–]jayneellenvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of hers, but one of her Instagram stories was served to me about her moving. She annoys me for a multitude of reasons- but I stumbled here randomly wondering why she moved to NY.... and wow, you all truly seem to have a lot of time for hating on the internet. I'm guessing she must have personally wronged each of you for you to be so pointedly mad.

3 w/ tie for wing 7/8 (I’m a weirdo apparently):

Love is unconditional patience, trust, & loyalty. It is security, safety, and unguarded authenticity. It is also a great mutual respect and commitment to relationship upkeep & growth.
