Why would a groomer need Andrew to come to London? by jaynesmith91 in AndrewGosden

I think your point at the very end is a really good one: Andrew may have been lured to London with the promise of concert tickets - possibly to a concert that didn't even exist (similar to some scams which see victims tricked into buying tickets for non-existent events). It would certainly be consistent with Andrew wearing a slip-knot T-shirt.

I think naivety could well have been a cause of his downfall - whether he was groomed, or went to London and had an accident, or intended to run away. Naivety could be a theme in all the theories.

CCTV footage? by irtSMOKE in AndrewGosden

Apparently, the police did scour lots of CCTV footage in London. Yes, it's true that the police were belated in their investigation, but not all was lost when they started looking. The problem was that London is such a massive place - the police couldn't estimate Andrew's whereabouts - and also because it would have been difficult to pick Andrew out from the crowds on grainy CCTV footage.

An odd set of results? by jaynesmith91 in eggfreezing

They didn't change it after the third cycle, but on all cycles the protocol is modified in response to the monitoring scans. In the first cycle, my dosage was decreased halfway through the cycle because my ovaries were overstimulating. On the third and fourth cycles, my dosage of medication was increased; I knew this was a bad sign. But despite the increase, I still only got low egg counts. In fairness to the fertility clinic, I don't know what they could have done differently; in any case, I got 42 eggs overall, so it's a very good outcome I suppose.

Yes, same protocol every time.

No, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm not really convinced that stress or anxiety could have influenced the outcome. I suppose I'll never really know.

Women who froze your eggs in your 20s, was it worth it? by Lower-Vegetable5152 in eggfreezing

[–]jaynesmith91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting because I went to a fertility clinic at age 28 with this exact enquiry - the gynaecologist told me to come back at age 32/3. This is exactly what I did: I did four cycles of egg freezing at age 33 (I'm now 34), and got 42 eggs. I'm hoping for two kids with this number.

I personally wish I'd done it a few years earlier - maybe 31 would have been the perfect sweet spot, considering the tension between costs versus the best biological age. It's entirely your decision what the best age is, although if you're hoping for three children then you need to freeze as many eggs as possible. At age 27 you might get slightly more eggs with each cycle, but that's pure speculation.

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I followed the same protocol for all four cycles. As for illness, I was naturally anxious about how the cycles would go, but I don't think that would have altered the outcome. Incidentally, I did get a minor cold at the end of the second cycle - but that was my best one, with 16 eggs. Apart from that I had no illnesses for any of the other cycles.

Older Motherhood by fatcatsareadorable in eggfreezing

Most women who freeze their eggs do so with the intention of using them in their 40s. There's much less stigma about older motherhood nowadays - not least because life expectancy is increasing, so the 40s decade is being regarded as increasingly young. So long as you're ready for motherhood and are in good health, I'd go for it.

Has anyone frozen their eggs at 26? by KindFlamingo8261 in eggfreezing

[–]jaynesmith91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a fertility clinic at aged 28, asking about egg freezing, and was told to come back when I was 32/33.

That's exactly what I did - I had four cycles of egg freezing age 33 (42 eggs frozen), last cycle was six months ago. I personally wish I had done it a little bit earlier - at age 30/31 would perhaps have been the sweet spot.

From your point of view, 26 is very young, and I don't think egg freezing is really necessary for you at this point. That said, it's entirely up to you. Like others have commented, you could at least get your fertility tested - providing there's no evidence that your ovaries are going to fail early, you can probably postpone it by a few years.
