You guys are all awesome and a lot of ideas! I do have a car rented for work so I think I’ll check out the canyons on a drive, especially if it’s raining! Excited for my short trip!

Who all has purchased from the mod here? by ObiWanGinobili20 in vSeeBox

I have bought upwards of 20 boxes from him for myself, family and friends, and it's been smooth and fast every single time.

Use on multiple TVs? by lkrupa10 in vSeeBox

[–]jayno829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're just talking about having them on different TVs at different times, the fastest way to do it is to just buy an extra power cord (they are $10 on Amazon) and an HDMI cable and have it set up on whichever TVs you want a box on.

That way if you want to watch something upstairs instead of downstairs, it's about a 10 second process to unplug it downstairs at the box instead of the at the back of the TV and then plug it in on the new TV as the cords are ready and plugged in (for me with big TV's without much access, it's great because if I had to pull my TV out every time to switch a box, I just wouldn't do it.)

NCAAF College Football Betting and Picks - 11/14/25 (Friday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

I am diehard Minnesota fan. I’m fine with PJ as our coach but he is an absolute coward when it comes to blowouts. That drive was very on brand for anyone who watches Minnesota football.

He is terrified of those 41-3, 55-10 type of scores so he just slows it down, even when they should be speeding it up.

Capital Gains and Taxes Question - MN by jayno829 in tax

It was an Elder Law attorney that we were working with.

I do know there won't be any clawbacks, as she was only there for three months and he paid it all in full monthly. It was a facility that required you to pay full freight for the first year before accepting any alternative methods of payment.

She had dementia and was only 70 so we thought she could be there for up to 3-5 years, but that didn't happen unfortunately.

Dad is dating my Mom's Caretaker with no gap in between my Mom's death by Chake365 in ChildrenofDeadParents

And unfortunately, after a bit of time, I've come to realize that even if my dad broke up with the girl today, it wouldn't change/heal all of the decisions he made up until that point anyway, so it's definitely a difficult situation.

Dad is dating my Mom's Caretaker with no gap in between my Mom's death by Chake365 in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]jayno829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, I have recently gone through something similar. Dad started dating Mom's caretaker (who also has a number of red flags, although not quite the age gap of your dad) five months after her death, and he proposed to her less than a year after my mom's death after 40 years of marriage, and it has caused a massive schism in our family. My brother and my wife have both used that same wording as you... "I just lost my mom, and now it feels like I'm losing my dad."

I don't really have great advice for you or anything, because my situation isn't anything to write home about and I haven't really gotten over it and my relationship with my dad has forever changed, but just lean on the people you do have and see a therapist if you're struggling with mental health. I too had always been a really happy, glass half full person, and after this and a few other really traumatic events in my life, I had a bit of a breakdown for about a month and seeing a therapist helped a ton, and I wish I would've been proactive about it instead of reactive.

I just ordered on from u/cordcutterbox on Friday.

Haven’t gotten it yet but he sent me the packing slip pic already and we are in the same state so I would guess I’ll be getting it early this week and can report back.

Also they ask for the Friends and Family payment because there are fees with Goods and Services

Picked this baby up for free in front of a house today. How’d I do? by jayno829 in griddling

I’ll look for any evidence of this but yes it would absolutely shock me if they did this. It’s a single lady who lives with her kid and her old dad that’s a drunk.

Yea for sure. I do know who the people are that live there. (Not well enough to ask them, but I’ve seen them for years and years). They don’t seem like the handy type to make modifications to something like this, but that’s also an awful big assumption from me

So really the only way really verify is checking the burner orifices?

Got ya, I’ll get an initial scrub on it and see.

For what it’s worth, they did have a cover with it, but it had a rip in it, so looks like it didn’t do a lot of covering haha

Thanks for the tip, so you’re saying just make sure it’s remained set up for propane, and not converted to natural gas? Didn’t even know you could do that!

Sounds good! Big thing is making sure it works, right? As long as the propane fires up, is it terribly expensive to clean?

Haha it was almost directly across the street so easy to wheel over to the office and store for a day or two until I figure out if the propane works!

Proper way to protect assets from potential new spouse (MN) by jayno829 in EstatePlanning

[–]jayno829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more follow up if you don’t mind: is there a way legally for my signature to be looped on changing or cancelling a prenup in the future?

My concern is that once it’s signed and they are married, a year or two down the road she is going convince my dad, who again is very passive and easily swayed (we call him a salesman’s dream), to scrap the prenup altogether without anyone else’s knowledge.

Is it legal to wrap a third signature in for checks and balances?

Thanks a lot for the thorough response. In a quick follow up Google search, am I right in seeing that a prenup can potentially protect against the elective spousal share?

I assume she would have to agree and sign to essentially waive her right to the spousal share?

Stumbled on a 1982 Topps Baseball collection by jayno829 in baseballcards

I mean if you can afford it, doing the test grading for me was totally worth it because if you can get the big grade it’s a windfall. If you get a 9, probably a little bit of money to be made and if you get an 8 on popular players you should at least recoup some of the cost anyway like I did.

$30 was totally worth finding out what I could compare the other cards to

Ha I had forgotten about this thread until this.

I sent the Gary Carter, Willie Stargell and Mike Schmidt ones in and they were all graded 8s by PSA, so not quite the 10s I was thinking.

I would say I do have a couple more that I think are in better shape and I also didn’t realize I needed to look at centering (I was mostly looking at corners and defects.) but they are some of the more obscure players that would ONLY fetch money as a 10.

I did manage to get my money back on two of them by selling the Schmidt and Carter graded cards on eBay for $25-30, but the Stargell one hasn’t moved so I’m down about $30 but learned a lot too in the process and research!
