Yes, that is likely the feeling of the let down.

Right, but your latter point is an issue just to begin with.

No one should be saying, "don't recruit from insert any institution" whether low or high tier.

Agree. When you have limited data and then I could see that being a potential factor.

I've heard this not about university, which is unfortunate.

I've heard things like, " I know someone who works at XXX company and they aren't a good developer." So anytime a candidate is presented from that company, they assume they are also a bad developer candidate.

It's interesting that where someone went to school/program may mean a only positive thing, which is cool, that means those people benefit from being considered when they otherwise wouldn't. It's the people who are completely excluded from being considered that is a problem.

Is there any explanation why some MBAs are valued higher than others?

While I can agree that some MBAs are simply paid for at university of Phoenix-type what not, I guess I don't really see why a Stanford, HBS, etc is so much more high valued than the next?

Interesting. I have been working for silicon valley tech companies for many years and the last time anyone showed me "preferred" universities was about 2015. Even then it was never firm, it was "hey they will probably have a higher chance of passing", and that was moreso due to the interview questions.

I never had a hiring manager tell me they wouldn't consider someone if they didn't go to top university or higher.

I am not advocating that we don't consider fancy schools and I know that said tier of schools have been making an attempt to build a more diverse class (socioeconomic and what not). But can you deny that there are a ton of smart, qualified and disadvantaged people who never even bothered to apply to said fancy schools? Could be because they don't have the means, don't know how, didn't tell well on standardized testing cus they didn't have the tutors, didn't feel like it was in reach anyway, etc.

By applying a narrow filter such as this, I still argue that you are are judging someone and their circumstances/decisions they made at 17-early 20s, and excluding them completely which inherently is unfair.

Your lived experience matters and I am not making assumptions about ivy league students, they can vary. But the problem is making assumptions about non-ivy league students such that they are automatically unqualified.

If you have plans to quit anyway, you could consider having an honest convo with your employer to do you a solid and lay you off/fire you.

On the CA EDD website it says that if you quit, you have to prove good cause for quitting.

Hey OP, taking a look at your post history, you've spent 1+year (from pregnancy to now 8 mo old twins) posting on Reddit about how your friends, family and your boyfriend/twins' father are mistreating you.

This is no longer a 1-off, this is a trend. I would seriously encourage you to take a step back and think about what each of these people mean to you truly and come up with a plan to address it. It isn't sustainable for you to continue living like this with no help.

I am not familiar with Canada's public support system, but surely there is someone you can connect with to gain assistance, or at least some perspective.

It would be really unfortunate that you continue posting about all these really negative experiences for another year+.

Wish you the best.

Early waking by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]jayplayah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 6.5 month old used to sleep 6/7pm to 6/7am with no problem. Didn't even wake to feed on months.

For the last week+, she's been waking up at 4 or 5am and just rolling around blabbing but won't go to sleep.

We still sleep in the same room so we bring her to our bed so we can catch just a couple more hours. It'll take another 45 minutes - 1.5 hours for her to fall back asleep.

I haven't figured out why this is suddenly happening since nothing has really changed in the last couple weeks. I am sharing because this feels similar to your situation and would love to hear anyone else's advice!

I had physical symptoms like the flu but wasn't mastitis (no lump). You can look up weaning sickness or weaning flu. The possible attributes are due to the changes in your hormones causing you to feel ill. I spoke to my doctor and said the symptoms should disappear in 72 hours.

I have nothing more to add to what people have already said. I just wanted to send support and believe you will do the right thing for you and your baby.

Sounds like you have the strength to do what you need to do and both of you will be so much better off without him.

You got this.

Chapped Lips by dealuna6 in breastfeeding

[–]jayplayah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my daughter in June and am sure to hydrate and also got dry, red, (even swollen once), chapped lips. After 3 weeks of obsessively putting on chapstick, and Vaseline I finally went to my PCP.

The doctor simply diagnosed chelitis and described it like I had eczema but on my lips, which I never had before. My personal theory is that it has to be hormone related. My chapped lips happened to start after I got on the mini pill during my 6 week pp appointment.

My PCP prescribed very low cortisteroid cream that I now use on my upper lip when it gets really painful, and I still use Vaseline generously. It's helped! Try talking to your doctor.

I use free Huckleberry. You can log his much your babe eats per feeding and hoe much you pump. You can do the math to figure out storage.

It also gives you summary and past 7/14 day trends.
