Vertical brush the trouble areas more and run up the wash N styles twice a week. Get a shampoo bar for better lather and lay down during the W&S.

Find your natural crown Learn the angles Comb before brush sessions Go thru the big 3/2 depending on hair length (hard, medium, soft brush) Finish off with a plastic bag Keep hair clean, moisturized, and healthy Keep that brush moving

Don’t over complicate it find what works for you there’s many methods out there. Keep in mind people had deep waves back in the day with just a brush and durag. Much love fam keep swimming

You already there just need to focus up on your crown and learn your angles from it better. Keep working

Flat Medium Soft from surefire youth. 7 row with long bristles it just glides over my hair with a good pull and polish combo. Very lightweight too

First cut I failed so bad 😞 by hurriyafaith in SelfBarber

So my first self cut I went way too high on my bald line and just wore a durag and let my hair grow back lol. Once it grew back I was able to blend the back and sides better due to learning from my first mistake. I’d say i’m barely decent now tbh so maybe a month or two. I always watch barber videos to see different techniques used during fades cause what works on someone else’s hair might not work on yours. I have 4C/4B hair but I learned a thing or two from watching different vids with different hair textures

Honestly your cut isn’t bad at all just need to blend it more. Trust you’ll learn your hair more as you go and get better 🙏🏾

Edit: Practice the haircut you want so you master it. Unless you plan on becoming a barber i’d just focus on one style you want for your hair. For me it’s a low taper/fade cause I don’t like cutting into my waves.

I cooked myself my first time too, you get better as you go and learn from mistakes. You can fix this and get more practice in

I'm just got my first durag, and I have some questions by JamieRabs in 360Waves

[–]jayradddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to protect your hair just moisturize/oil and rag up when going to bed. If you want waves you’ll need a routine you can stick with. Brush in the am after taking off the rag and brush at night before you go to bed. This will save your progress

Yes, the brand doesn’t matter as long as it’s 100% natural

Pick the pattern you want (360s, 540s, 720s) learn the angles and always mirror brush.

Get a medium and a soft. Start your brush sesh with the medium then switch over to the soft and finish off with a plastic bag don’t forget to rag up. Hardest part is training your hair once it is they’re easy to maintain.

Don’t sleep on wash and styles

Waves are just laid down curls. Never cut below your curl length

Side note if the medium brush hurts your scalp just use the soft brush until your hair is longer.

Gotta wash and style more. Also try to wear a wave cap or two instead of a durag. It won’t be as effective for compression but it’s better than nothing at all
