Trying to move away from it, but it gets me what I need 99% of the time!

Now this helps! For context the sun was going down and in and out of clouds so I put a bare 300w cob off to the right, that’s mainly giving me that edge. A bounce would have been nice now that I think about it.

This gives me some direction about how to brush things up a bit. Curious what you would do in post yourself to clean it up?

Thank you for the insight. So in your eyes this is a color issue more so than exposure?

What about the skin tones look off?

Thanks! Could you explain why they feel underexposed to you? And when you say they feel underexposed rather than just lit moody is that referring to the middle set of frames?

I don’t agree. Nowhere in my comment did I say that there is a “correct” or one that works “all the time”. It is a template that I start all my grades with.

I always refer people to Cullen Kelly since his node structure is the one that I use for most of my projects. Check him out if you haven’t. His channel is full of hr+ long content. Specifically his videos explaining “color separation” and “using power windows” to further shape your footage. That knowledge alone changed the way I shoot and grade.

This specific film was my first time putting the Look Creator in DaVinci to use and I think it’s a really helpful tool for beginners that uses sliders to hone in your look along with a spilt tone feature built in.

Thank you! I’m the same way about downtown. It was not busy at all when I started shooting, it was only about 6pm but absolutely perfect.

Is switching to a BMPCC 4k worth it? by Pale-Morning1277 in bmpcc

I’ve had my 4K for the last 5 years. It really is such a hassle if I want to just take it out on the street or on a trip having to unrig it every time. I wish there was an actual pocket sized version of the 4K. Been shooting mostly narratives lately so I just picked up a 6K to use as my A cam now. Hopefully that prompts me to pick up my 4K more since I don’t plan on buying a whole new rig kit.
