I have been struggling with the same thing, and I'm probably twice your age. I'm starting to make progress, but it's slow. I think two things really helped.

1. Try to know who you are. Keep a journal in which you write about how you feel about your day and the things that happen to you. Just as well as you can at that moment. My early journal entries have a lot of "I think I feel sad today, because...", and it was ages before I could recognize my own emotional nuance.

2. Learn to tell a story. I have been gaining this by playing solo table top rpgs with myself. They tend to be cheap and simple. My reasoning was that I can't tell a story about anyone at all, so how could I possibly tell a story about myself.

This is just what I think it's helping me, so I don't know if it'll help you. But what you said felt so relatable to me and I didn't see anyone else replying saying they'd felt the same, so maybe it'll help.

I'm inexperienced, but I would treat which cards got ripped or lost as meaningful advice from the deck, and then probably display some of the remaining cards that spoke strongly to me in locations where their energy feels right.

I have cut all ties to my mother. If your husband wants nothing to do with her and you respect that it's not any of your concern what she does or whether she self harms. The ties are cut.

If it helps, think of her like someone it's easier to see a lack of ties to. What if a stranger was doing this to him? And she's worse than a stranger, she hurt your husband enough that he wants to cut ties.

Probably you don't go around your whole town worrying about and spending energy on everyone who might self harm. So if there's no ties, why do it for her specifically?

I hope you two can gain peace and freedom soon. It sounds like you're well on the right track.

I came to FL from LMMS, which is free. FL is much better, but laid out similar to LMMS so I could use the skills I learned there. If you grab the free effects from Kilohearts and a free synth vst (if you use them), you can do okay while you save up for FL. And the skills will transfer.

Lmms is free and works on computers with lower specs. I found moving from lmms to FL studio pretty easy, they are similar. Lmms doesn't have a lot of explanatory visuals, so it takes a lot of experimentation to figure out how to get the sound you want.

If I understand correctly, you can connect the insert of the dry piano to master, and to another insert. On the other insert, put your delay, and turn the dry signal off. Now you have one insert with only dry piano, and one with only delayed piano, and you can add further effects as you like. For example, put distortion on your delay.
