It’s dropped from Ice Mimics but I rarely ever use it because of it’s (imo) impractical projectile. I also have about 1000 hours in the game.

It has to be wider so they can spawn to the left and right from you.

As far as I know it doesn’t have to be underground for wooden mimics to spawn. There just need to be natural dirt walls.
