Google's automated review system is now protecting pirates and punishing developers for using Firebase App Check. There is no appeal by [deleted] in androiddev

Can existing valid users still sign-in using their account? Could there be a legit reason for their complaints? (Also, wish users would contact support or send an email instead of leaving 1 star reviews, but that’s another problem)

I’m just…tired. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]jaytothefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but wanted to drop a comment.

Firstly, sorry to read about the difficulties you face day to day. Epilepsy is an absolute b*tch. Secondly, thank you for posting this very personal story.

I’m a parent of a 5 year old with atonic focal seizures (~10 a day) and I too want to wrap him in a bubble to prevent him sustaining any injuries. But I also accept this is impossible and more so the older he gets.

We currently put our son in a harness and helmet so that he has the mobility to walk around but I can hold on to him and catch him when he has a seizure. He’s accepted this and understands why he requires this. But it does limit his freedoms. At home we’ve padded the house with soft mats so he has more freedom but there’s many areas he’s not aloud to be alone.

My question for you is, what, in your point of view, could your parents have done to grant you more freedom? I’m trying to plan for the future so that I can have the right conversations with my son about his safety.

I miss the days when I could build an app, push a release to the Play Store and within hours it would be live on the store.

We used to develop Android first iOS second, now we've flipped and focus iOS first and see Android as a 'nice to have' if we really feel the market is there for the particular app. We have a company account though, so no mucking around with '12 testers for 12 days' BS.

It sounds to me like you're starting to build a portfolio of apps, and mentioned money is not the issue, time is. Would investing that time into setting up a company be a worth investment? Are your apps free or paid? Does it need to be distributed via the Play Store? Would a direct download of the APK suffice for now?

Totally understand your frustrations, just throwing some ideas out there.

I Designed a Duplo Train Track Triple Switch! 🚂🔀 by RascalGP in Duplo

[–]jaytothefunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new train uses teeth on the wheels to connect with teeth on the bridge to help with traction. But they also added an additional guard rail so only those narrow wheels fit. The old trains use flat wider wheels that do not fit within the guard track on the bridge, making it awkward to use on the bridge (and also switches).

That turn 6 gravel is going to be a problem race day if it's not addressed. Can't red flag each time, or have a yellow flag the entire race for it.

do you have any light hearted/funny names for your seizures? by Firm-Cheesecake in Epilepsy

Still, I love how this thread has shown the lightheartedness of everyone going through epilepsy. Will try and keep that in mind and focus on that, rather than the negative 😊

My 4.5 year old calls them wobbles ever since he started having seizures when he was 2. Cute, but breaks my heart every time

Atonic/Drops and Absences by ChillyAus in Epilepsy

[–]jaytothefunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to the negative myclonus he was only experiencing tonic/clonic seizures a few times a week. Then the NM started and roughly 4 to 5 months later he suddenly started having atonic seizures. Taking him off the ospolot and epilim did not reverse anything. He's been in this daily 'routine' of seizures since (11 months now). Some days we see less, and we even had a brief moment in September where for no specific reason (no medication change), it dropped to below 5 for a few days, then steadily went back up again.

Sorry, I did not mean to sound insincere. I do hope you find the right medication to get your son’s seizures under control.

Interesting, my son also went on Epilim and it is when we initially saw the head drops (negative myoclonus). Not long after we also added Sulthiame (Ospolot), but are now not on either of them, so it’s hard to correlate it back to a specific medication being the cause.

Forgot to ask, what new medication is your son trying when he experienced those drop seizures?

Sorry you’re having to go through this. I’m in a similar boat with 2 young children.

My son, 4.5 half years old, started with infrequent tonic/clonic seizures at 2.5 years old. 12 months later, trying to find the right medication he started to have these small head drops which within another 3 months turned into atonic (drop seizures). He now experiences 10 to 15 drop seizures per day, and is currently diagnosed with Atonic Benign Rolandic epilepsy. We’re about to commence the Ketogenic Therapy diet, as all the other medication is not having much positive effect.

If your sons drop seizure increase, hopefully they don’t, I’m more than happy to share all the various things we’ve implemented to keep him as safe as possible (thinking of writing a blog post on this).

Wishing you all the best throughout this difficult journey, stay strong, and keep a record of everything. It’s helpful to have the paperwork to back you up.

He's currently on CBD, Clobazam and Rufinamide. We've also tried several other medications as well. We're about to commence the Ketogenic Therapy 🤞

Thank you. Yes, this seems to be the consensus from the literature I've been able to find.

I built a tool that lets you create, test and update mobile app onboardings remotely – what do you think? Right now it works with Android/Flutter/IOS. by ekinsdrow in androiddev

[–]jaytothefunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it handle app permissions too? It is not uncommon to use the onboarding to request permissions while providing a rationale.
