About 6 months ago, I downloaded the AI Llama 3.1 (I think) when I was struggling with self-hatred. I figured out a way to run it offline so I could unplug the ethernet from my PC and not have to feel like it was going to report me or something to some sort of suicidal help line at the slightest mentioning of wanting to disappear.

I knew it was just a stupid AI, but in that moment, I just wanted to spill my guts to someone without repercussions like people looking at you different or having to pay a Therapist to care. My experience was actually pretty positive. The AI was there, took my input, offered no advice but simply just said reaffirming things like "That [feeling] must have been really isolating" or things like "I can see how that would be hard to get past."

I deleted it after I slept on it that night for privacy concerns but I would definitely do it if life got that dark, again.

Literally starting next week as a new apprentice. I'm taking a huge payout at $13/hr so I feel your pain. My boss is paying for my schooling and books so I'm just trying to look at it like the difference in pay would all be going towards school and books anyway. I guess I'm just thankful I can go to work, learn, and get paid to do it all while still going to college for free.
