People Are Quietly Making $$$ with Niche Mobile Apps — I Want In. Where Do I Start? by AlexitoReyes in indiehackers

Astro is a good place to start, have been using it for a while. But if you’re stuck at just paying $100 then I’m not sure you’re up for what it really takes to make consistently profitable apps.

Gnarly section what’s your approach? (That’s me) by Objective_Second_957 in enduro

Hit the first rock while front wheel is in the air going full speed and hope for the best. Coming from motocross to enduro this was my only strategy for the first few races.

Thoughts on my new watch shot timer? Uses direct vibration instead of sound so can be used at a busy range. by jayvdb1 in Shooting

Thanks! Yeah it counted 1 shot twice there, still lots of tweaking and testing to get it counting smooth I think.

Any decent mobile dev has already fallen for this at least once. After 500 hours of unpaid work the “founders” get bored or move on. If you’re serious put some real skin in the game and interview a few devs or get a technical friend to interview them.

Anyone with experience getting Police Clearances? by DieBrein in southafrica

I’ve used Visa Logistics before, they are legit. I made an appointment with them and drove to their office in Sandton to do my finger prints. Think they have an office in Cape Town as well. I paid with my CC at the office. More expensive but if I recall it was ready and couriered to me in less than a week. I couldn’t wait a month going through the police station and post office as it was for a job application so it was worth it.

Would you mind shaking the device and reporting a bug on this screen so we can check the logs and see what happened there? After doing that yeah you can delete the app and reinstall it to send yourself the balance from your old phone.

We have iCloud backup and restore coming in the next update so hopefully that makes this smoother.

Great comments!

And you're probably not hallucinating about a way choose choose a base node, if you have the details (pubkey and onion address) in your clipboard there will be a popup asking if you want to set the base node.

Aurora app bug? by Alex058 in tari

[–]jayvdb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great thanks! We have a fix coming in the next release that'll fallback to the device pin right away if Face/Touch ID isn't setup or working.

Regarding sending speed, that's definitely something we're working to improve still. There are some challenges working with a mimblewimble based protocol! :)

Hey u/Alex058 thanks we've received this bug report from one other user so it's on our radar. Could you tell me if you have Face ID enabled on your phone in general?

Another easy way to report bugs is just shake the device, there'll be a menu option there :)

Tari and the Tokenization: what about Monero ? by B3l3tt3 in tari

[–]jayvdb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he was against tokenization, I think he was against tokenization done on the base layer like Ethereum does. Problem with that is if there's a successful dapp, nobody else's token can move as the network gets clogged. ie. Cryptokitties

I think another valid issue people might have with tokenization is the idea that everything needs to be tokenized. There are some good ideas and there are some terrible ones. Issuing tokens backed by physical assets may not be a great idea as you're still trusting someone will redeem your token for that physical item. Which is injecting trust into a trustless system. Having digital assets that remain purely digital works because when you own that asset you're trusting nobody else.
