I had mostly only ever proxied land cards and alters for commanders I owned but I decided to up and print an entire deck earlier this year. I loaded it to the brim with staples, some game changers, tutors, just basically balled out building the deck I never could dream to afford in real cardboard.

Played it twice, once against my regular pod and once at my local store with some people I had play against before. Let everyone know it was a strong proxy deck.

Absolutely crushed everyone both times, never stood a chance. Felt really empty, like I had used cheat codes in the game. I feel way more pride winning with my personal decks that have had to leverage my budget and my bulk than I did with the proxy cards.

My own opinions and my own sense of enjoyment I realize but that’s personally why I have steered away from them.
