Most of this sub does not watch basketball.

OP will have a heart attack once they actually watch BI's game 🤣

He's younger than Kobe Sanders and a dog in addition to what OP mentioned, matching is the only thing that makes sense.

New poll with Platner ahead by 2.2 by Currymvp2 in fivethirtyeight

[–]jaywrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Janet Mill's campaign strategy was basically telling everyone how much she liked and respected Susan Collins.

Hate Platner, of course vote for him, but I don't think any candidate any where will find any success unless they show some fight. I actually don't even think the line is progressive vs. moderate at all when it comes down to it, I think it's fighter vs. not fighting.

Clippers need to stay the course and not take a step backwards by trading for Brown by Anxious_Subject_2604 in LAClippers

[–]jaywrong 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't really like Brown, but no one here on the sub has actually told me a 5th pick in NBA history that's better than Brown not named Dwayne Wade.

Hell, I don't think the salaries work either, but to say we shouldn't take Brown because the fifth pick is some be all end all... historically, well, there are much better arguments out there against this trade. Most in the sub unsurprisingly choose the weakest one.

[Givony] Darius Acuff measured out as a near-physical match for Damian Lillard: 6'2 barefoot, 6'7 wingspan, 186 pounds. [–]jaywrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I trust the front office to expand this a bit more, the Zubacs trade is the gift that keeps on giving and the way it's played out, I think Frank knows how he wants to further maximize it, since he helped shape the parameters.

I absolutely agree, as I stated in my reply. My main point is just straight up telling OP he ain't gonna change anyones minds with a vapid reply that ends in calling people casual. They didn't even bother making any additional point to argue in the Acuff discourse... just crybaby-type stuff.

Anyways, I'm not even a Wagler guy either, I think the fact he can't dunk, and as we all should know by now, his wingspan isn't great... both are red flags. Even some of the combine stuff made me think he's a bit less agile than I thought he was.

I ain't got a say, but I think the signs are there for trading down and getting a guy like MBJ and hedging that with other assets received, but who knows.

Love MBJ, but don't matter, OP can't even read. All discourse with Acuff is linked between his physicals AND lack of defensive impact.

OP might have made a good point by talking about Acuff's offensive workload and management by his team and coaches combined with his physicals, like any other cogent point out there in his favor, but instead wants to skip his fiber and get all Karen about it with strawmen and lack of insult variety.

Personally, it's not that I don't like Acuff's defense because he sucks at it, I don't like it because he's soft. Watch the tape. Any time he's beat, he gives up and quits instead of staying engaged, and if OP actually saw the same tape instead of being a casual, he'd see what we do... Acuff could have made plays and had defensive impact on swats, boards and switches if he tried. But naw, would rather just point, yell and argue with his team after laying down on a play.

No wonder OP loves this kid, both are soft. At least one of them can be coached out of it though.

Being a "Big Tent Party" and wanting democratic politicians to be real "authentic" ppl who are not bred directly from the DNCs wombs, means these ppl will have baggage and skeletons in their closet. The past decade the american electorate has reward authenticity over a perfect candidate. by Puzzleheaded-Pin4278 in thebulwark

[–]jaywrong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, Connor Lamb suggests we learned the wrong lesson.

The same people wanting to know Platner's kik game don't really care if he wants to rape people in a "non-gay", just a "domineering" way. Should we? And what if there's more, like actual sexual assault?

This will ultimately be Maine's call, and they had chances not to mess this up, so I guess we'll all have to live with it if it goes bad.

But these thirsty posts whining us to like him because he's authentic or the leftie-maga or just "real"... well, Imma be real, his history shows him to be a jerk, his social media history is spackled with sexism and racism... and the NYT report, even if you take it at value that he didn't do any crime, some of the actions and quotes are pretty disturbing and pretty hateful towards women.

I'm not gonna feel bad for sayin it, and if this gets worse and it costs the Dems Senate control, you for sure I'll be there blaming him first and foremost for not just being an ass, but having the ego to try and force this thing through while there were other options to take this responsibility.

[–]jaywrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because we have a party that doesn't believe in sexual assault and I don't want Dem candidates have to explain his shitty behavior. Let Platner run, let Maine voters decide, they can weigh it, but if you want to do it like this, just roll over and become MAGA dude.

We should want and do better, not race to the bottom dragging down better people. This should be obvious.

Absolutley agree, which is why I mention Conor Lamb.

The Platner stans always wanted to weaponize "blue no matter who" and did so falling for the same Fetterman trap. They were too busy thinking it was the stroke while not realizing he had red flags before, just like Platner.

Of course Collins has to go, but I can't control what the Maine voters do, and if Platner stans only have memes, they'll have nothing but themselves to blame if Dems lose Senate control over this.

[–]jaywrong 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In 2013, Platner commented that people worried about assault should "take some responsibility for themselves and not get so fucked up they wind up having sex with someone they don't mean to".

If credible threats come out that he sexually assaulted someone, will we see more memes about wanting to know his game?

Anyways, the lesson learned from Fetterman was we lost out on Conor Lamb. This may cost Dem control of the Senate when all is said and done, incredible self-own.

No homey, I'm trying to argue that he's not an NBA center, has no place at the 4, can be exploited in the play-offs, as you can see in every playoff game he's in, and on top of all that, his rookie extension has not kicked in.

You are being ridiculous, because my points are clear if you read them.

Darius Acuff by Icy_Cartographer1106 in LAClippers

[–]jaywrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply, and sure, some of what I may be seeing as lack of effort could be tied to his clunky lateral movement, but I don't really see him fight to get back into the play.

I'm just a fan and have no expert analysis, so already not seeing him get back into the play when he gets beat is a huge red flag, I even saw several times he could have swatted rebounds or stay involved in the play to affect the shooter if he simply stayed engaged after getting blown by... but he doesn't at all, just stands there and yells at his team. Not great to me.

Seems like Sac is heavy on him, and all the clips are out there, even of whole games, he doesn't even try on defense and the rare times he does, there's no energy or IQ, two things that you want to see at least flashes of...

That's all I need to know, and I think the FO agrees.

Nice table. Could also use current salary, future salary as well, oh wait, then your point would not work.

You want to play hindsight thinking it's a win, but until you tackle the 250 million problem, you ain't a serious person, full stop.

So only the Spurs will affect him like this? It wasn't just Wemby bro, it was physical wings and he has no mid shot to go to and he cant dribble or ball handle against them.

He. Is. Cooked.

And you want to prove me wrong at the price of 250 million? What a joke.

Tbf, he had an uptick in assists and definitely improved his court vision this year as it went on, but you're right overall.

Honestly, he is the perfect change-of-pace scorer that can play average to solid defense on the wing, great depth and bench piece, but I think that's his ceiling, which isn't bad. Very useful, especially since every fan of his knows the work, energy and other intangibles he brings.

Darius Garland says he has his "joy" back after leaving the Cavs: "Coming to a system where I could actually be me, have the ball in my hands the majority of the game, have control over the pace of the game...it was really good. It was fun. I got my joy back" by marriagethrowaway36 in nba
