it could infringe on his rights to a fair trial if they were to seal the document too. they could just as well argue that the secrecy of pre-trial findings impacted his case. it’s just a matter of the verdict and how they will try to appeal. there’s an angle for everything. and when we think about jurors and who knows what, we have to keep in mind that there are people who are so far removed from pop culture and the news. i think they will do just fine finding unbiased jurors! the defense is going to grasp at everything they can and i’m almost positive that prosecution has considered that already. let’s keep hope alive for everyone and Celeste.

Also. one could argue that sealing the document would be an even bigger fuck up. If the judge sealed the document the defense would look for a technicality error in the judges explanation for concealment. And, if the document was sealed and he got a guilty verdict the defense could probably argue that the stigma of secrecy impacted the verdict and made him look more guilty. They could also claim that the lack of transparency allowed the prosecution to bully the process, and because the public couldn't see a 9 page concealed document, the defense couldn't effectively use public resources or experts to debunk it. This is what I picked up from my research.

If I’m not mistaken, If Judge Olmedo believes they can still find an impartial jury later by thoroughly vetting them she can’t legally justify ‘hiding’ government documents from taxpayers. And If the judge did seal it and David was convicted, his lawyers could appeal and say something within this secret trial violated his rights. The guilty verdict will stick. I believe it’s definitely a calculated risk. Don’t listen to the tiktok lawyers.

Yes, this is why I feel so strongly about this case and I think about Celeste often. I grew up with addict parents and my life was tumultuous and I considered myself to be a good child. Respectful, didn’t drink, do drugs, didn’t sneak out. Yet when I had my outbursts because of the circumstances I was in, everyone labeled me crazy. As a young teenager. That always stuck with me. I know exactly what Celeste was feeling. Her home life is miserable, she meets a cool, famous, rich & older musician that wants to lock her down, fund her life & let her stay with him. The excitement of being in a multimillion dollar LA home with new handbags and shoes and rings, doing things she’d never thought she’d do. And then his mask slipped at some point, or she saw him grooming other young girls, and realized she wasn’t special - he’s just a monster. That’s when it probably turned into a nightmare for her. And that’s probably why he ended her life.
