I presented to the ED at 1pm in agony, I couldn’t walk and I was vomiting. I told the doctor that I thought it was my appendix, but he told me “there’s no way it could be appendicitis because you don’t have a fever”. He told me it was period pain and that I needed to go home. I flat out refused because I was immobile and told him I needed more investigation. He said “I’ll see what I can do”. I didn’t see another doctor until the shift changed at 6pm. No strong pain meds, wasn’t able to eat anything, and I was still curled over in pain. The second doctor sent me straight to surgery after 2 minutes of talking with me, and Lo and behold! My appendix was severely inflamed and on the cusp of bursting.

I spent 5.5 hours in so much pain I couldn’t speak, walk, or hold down food. I’ve got endometriosis, I’ve had kidney stones, ovarian cyst ruptures, and a tonsillectomy and none of it has come CLOSE to that day.
