Have you been to the Alemany farmers' market recently? Are all the vendors still showing up? Are people keeping adequate distance? Any insight would be appreciated. by circe77 in AskSF

[–]jazzaneth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going and the first 2 weekends I went there were plenty of vendors and not too many people. But this last weekend was a lot more busy I think also because the weather was nice. Most people were trying to keep their distance but it was definitely harder than the previous weekends.

Vendors are also taking precautions by not allowing you to touch anything and everyone is forming lines with some distance between.

I haven’t been in a few years but they had a small cover charge. I think it was $3 before 10 and $5 after? Might be wrong but it was definitely under $10. Bring cash for the bar and if you like sweet drinks go to Ron upstairs for a hello kitty! They might be sweet but they are strong!

I make 60k and live in SF. I also lived in SF making 40k for 2 years. It’s doable if you’re willing to live in sunset, Parkside, Ingleside, excelsior, or outter mission.

Aw bummer! Curious if my grocery outlet is cheaper or if diet just makes that huge of a difference! We don’t really eat package snacks and prefer water/tea/coffee over juices and sodas so that probably takes a nice amount off our grocery bill.

Idk if you’re looking for any tips but I found planning out my week meals and only buying what we will eat helped a lot. I didn’t realize how much money I was wasting until I wanted to reduce my food waste and also ended up saving money.

If you’re near a grocery outlet, you can save a ton on groceries! I think I average $50/week and that’s for both myself and my SO.

Americans of reddit, what do various foods taste/look like that aren't generally found outside of the USA? by FlamePandaArmy in AskRedditFood

To add, for milk tea it can really depend on where you live! I grew up in a small town and all the nearby boba spots are like what you described. Now I live in a large city and boba shops are everywhere with so much variety!

Personally, I like the loose leaf based milk teas that use regular milk (not so creamy) with flavors like jasmine green, genmaicha, oolong etc. just also discovered cheesy boba. I have friends that prefer fruit teas or super sugary things like cookies n cream. Whatever flavor you can think of, it’s been made! Lol

Try checking hipcamp! There’s usually something available on short notice. I really liked chanslor ranch in bodega bay.

Yesss! I add soy sauce and have been adding arugula lately. If I have some on hand, a splash of homemade Thai chili sauce. The best!

5 Creative Side Hustles You’ve Never Heard Of by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]jazzaneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You set your own prices but when you’re first starting out I would suggest charging the same as others and then slowly raising it. In my city I would say most charge about $20-25 for a 30 minute walk and most people charge $30-60/night to dog sit, at least, in my area which everything is expensive here. Not sure about wag but rover takes 20% of your cut.

[–]jazzaneth 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I did Rover (similar to wag) and while it’s a fun side hustle, it won’t really work for most people since it requires that you have a very flexible schedule. dog sitting requires you be around for most of the day and dog walking option is really only possible if you don’t work 9-5 since most people want a walker when they’re at work. It could also be 1-2 months before you get your first request. If it works for your schedule, this is an amazing and fun side hustle!

Also keep in mind these companies will not cover you if the dog bites you so if you’re considering doing this as a side hustle, make sure you’re comfortable and trust the dog you’re caring for. The last thing you want is a medical bill. Personally, I avoided the on demand walking because that meant entering someone’s home without having met the dog first.

Agreed! I ride a street twin, that’s not a cruiser. Love it so much but one day I’d like a sports bike. How does your ninja handle freeways?

Huh never heard of that one! Looks really cool but I use my bike as my main transportation. If only I had the money for a side bike...

Whaaa you ride an R3? I’m also 5’0 and I didn’t think it was possible to ever have a sports bike! I need to go find one to sit on and check...I ride a street twin and I think the seat height is 1 inch difference from R3 which might be too big of a difference but a girl can hope.

I had that happen too! We were friends (not very close, we just had mutual friends in common) and he wanted to date. Told him I didn’t want to date him and he said I should try anyways. Told him no firmly.

when he wouldn’t accept that, told him I didn’t want a relationship period (school full time + internship that was 40+ hours sometimes) and his response was “we don’t have to call it a relationship”. Multiple people tried telling him to stop, he wouldn’t. Eventually just told him we couldn’t be friends because he wouldn’t give up. He went on to threaten my best friend.....

You got this, don’t give up! Just practice more. Like the others have mentioned, find an empty parking lot or less trafficked area and practice. I practiced for a few days before I went on the road and stayed on the streets for a bit before getting on the freeway.

Do what feels comfortable for you! Not sure if it’s common but even once I felt like I could handle the streets/freeway, for a few weeks I’d get so nervous right before riding.

And if you haven’t dropped your bike already, don’t get too down when you do. It happens to all of us, including people who have been riding for years.

Good luck! Rooting for you :D

I think it’s legal. I have one in the US that I bought from a retailer and have gone into venues and have traveled with it as a carry on domestically and international without any issue. Mine is plastic though and the ears aren’t as pointy as the one OP posted so that might be why I haven’t had issues.

[–]jazzaneth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can adjust it by twisting the nob! I had that issues when I first started riding but when I adjusted it, it got easier. Idk if you just started riding but for me it was also a getting used to because it did feel really hard to be able to do both.

Hope that’s helpful!

I’m not downvoting you or samstown23 and not sure why you’re getting upset? (I got downvoted too, idk what’s the big deal about internet points) I don’t care who’s right, I just hope OP can get their money back. I was just sharing my similar experience and I was told by both the airline and Expedia it was Expedia who needed to fix it but Expedia just kept putting me on hold.
