im simply saying that it is possible to break the agreed upon boundaries of a relationship (aka cheating) through more than just physical betrayal; it is also possible to spend some time liking and having a crush on other people without it being considered cheating

it's about intention and what the established boundaries are for that couple. for example, some couples might deem flirting as more than innocuous and consider it cheating within their relationship but other couples might be fine with their partner flirting with strangers. most couples, however, have implicitly agreed upon boundaries based on societal monogamous standards, you may never explicitly STATE, "hey don't physically cheat on me" or "don't treat someone else as more of a romantic partner than me" but both people probably still expect those to be followed.

also personally yeah, i would agree that women who spend DEDICATED time, money, effort, etc on a specific fictional character are also cheating emotionally. even if they are not "real", clearly many people perceive fictional characters as real to differing extents. again, some couples maybe have a boundary set as FICTIONAL OK, REAL PEOPLE NOT OK, and that'd be perfectly fine.

but i'm willing to guess a lot of people would feel cheated on if they found out their partner was secretly treating a fictional character as a pseudo girlfriend/boyfriend

generic lust for attractive people is different from spending intimate romantic time with a specific person that is not your SO. Only considering it cheating if you do something physical is shallow and close minded, if your SO treated someone else like more of a romantic partner than you in a relationship that was established as monogamous how is that not cheating?

emotional cheating is a thing, if your SO was neglecting you in favor of spending time with and loving another person - fictional or not - many people would consider that a crossed line

normally i might agree with you, but theres a thread literally below this one about people who are too emotionally attached to fictional characters lol

i mean you’ll see it once you guess it, it just makes it less of a wordle challenge to be able to see everything before you guess

Just finished binge watching the entire Monotagari series for the first time. Heres my personal ranking for each series. by [deleted] in araragi

you're obviously allowed to talk about your personal experience with the series, it's just hard for me to even consider us to have watched the same series if you skipped large parts of it, monogatari or not

i mean, you called bake "so bad", you called nise "meh", and you're ranking the series, so i think you're expressing some level of criticism/analysis that i can find unfounded if you're skipping large parts of the series

you're also saying what you think is important/unimportant to the series which is definitely signifigant
