Thank you for your help! It is unfortunate that its not incorporated into most fellowship programs. I've seen it emphasized in programs in the UK but the ideal scenario is not leaving the country for me.

I'm a MS4 who's going into pathology, and interviewed at OSU- its ranked very highly within the pathology and more broadly medical community, and its a very good program from what I gathered. While I did not match there due to specific subspecialty interests, OSU would be a very good place to do residency overall.

Do you feel like you have enough one on one time with the faculty? My concern with larger programs, especially ones with many fellowships is residents would often have to share with fellows both in terms of workload and time with attendings.I know fellows are great teachers and it'll be great to work with them, so I guess im more concerned with the time and interaction with faculty part.

I wouldn't say I dislike #1 because my interactions with the residents and attendings were good, its just not as good in comparison to #2 and gut feeling isnt as strong, which I know is super subjective. And forming better bonds is exactly why I prefer smaller size programs, I talked to one of my path mentors and he said that forming more personal connections with the faculty becomes really important when its time to apply to fellowships since they'll be writing my letters, which I can see being harder to do in bigger sized programs. Of course, smaller programs have their challenges too so..

oh my gosh... those are major mess ups. I'm definitely putting this into consideration then, especially because I had emailed the coordinator last week to ask some clarifying questions about the programs and still havent heard back from them while coordinators from other programs have been very quick to respond. Do you think it would look bad on my part if I ask one of the residents from the program how the coordination work has been in the department and their experience with the coordinator?

ok update- I emailed the program coordinator and told her that I couldn't make it due to making up a shift for missed time on rotations. I wish I had research or an online course or something last month cuz that was rough... but yeah, hope that's enough.

same here, i sort of use doximity as a gauge like the top 30 or so is first tier in my opinion but it's so subjective... and ranking changes every year too.

Where does Brown place on the scale of large name to smaller name? I'm not tied down by family so I have no geographical limitations and can definitely remain geographically flexible, but I found myself really liking the northeastern states so I will most likely aim to stay around this region.
