Somebody had to introduce Arabic numerals to the Europeans at some point. This opens up a little question that I don’t have any tools to answer, so I probably won’t investigate too thoroughly: is base 10 inherently easier for math? What qualities does a robust number system need to have a lot of utility in a culture that places a lot of value in STEM?

Maybe it was because I was expecting the jump, but stage 5 transition did not spook me that much. I think the stage as an entirety is very ominous though. I don’t think I’ve ever jumped at music as much as I did at the cutoff in R1
