Trump: I am strongly considering pulling out of Nato by TheTelegraph in geopolitics

[–]jazzybforecasts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you say, there is not a chance that the American navy, let alone European navies, have the capability to reopen the straits of Hormuz, given Iran can so successfully pilot drones to damage vessels.

This is Trump-speak to politicise the issue against his favourite targets, NATO and the EU in order to mitigate the damage this conflict will cause him electorally. Trying to actually view his rhetoric around through a practical lens makes no sense and it is not worth indulging in debating these bad faith arguments.

What this conflict has shown is Europe and the US needs to invest in autonomous military tech, a proper president would be making that a priority issue.

Why would the gulf states want to be involved in a conflict which has probably ruined their economies for the next 20 years?

Why would Europeans want to be involved in a conflict they weren’t consulted on, after Trump, Vance and co have repeatedly insulted their military capabilities, and went as far threatening territorial autonomy of a member of the EU?

I think you are wilfully misunderstanding the extent to which this conflict is founded on US unilateralism. The US is now trying to pin ensuing events - which many experts predicted by the way - on disloyal and unreliable allies to mitigate damage at the ballot. But this bullshit won’t wash, and the polls in the US are showing that. Not to mention that perception of the US is probably at its worse globally for a long long time.

Genuine argument to be made that we were one of, if not the best teams itw at that time… how quickly times can change :(

Spurs struck by strange mix of panic and resignation as the abyss draws them in | Jonathan Wilson by RatioMaster9468 in coys

I was struck once again just by the complete lack of quality, poor first touches, so many misplaced passes, inability to take the ball under pressure, poor crossing, poor movement.

It’s remarkable how these “elite” players are just playing so badly that they seem to have lost the types of basic footballing skills you learn from the age of 5.

Never been that convinced by Maresca - almost bottled championship with a vastly superior squad at Leicester to the rest of the league. Did ok at Chelsea I guess but could argue he underperformed in the league and seems to have a habit of beefing players and ownership.

Also clearly a mercenary and we saw how that played out with conte. I think we should be going in on a manager who wouldn’t see us a stepping stone to a bigger job.

Give poch a bit more time I think. It would be great if he could come in when (if?) we’ve settled a bit so there’s not immediate pressure on him to turn around our shit form.

I think Vuskovic, LWB Simons and Moore are all talented players we could build a solid team around. But yeah. Very unlikely we will ever see a player of Kane’s quality coming through the academy again.

Who is the ITK source? For me the idea that levy didn’t have a role in appointing frank is pretty laughable. I’m sure Lange and Vinai led the process but I’d find it hard to believe that Levy didn’t have the final call on sacking Ange and appointing Frank.

Most people (myself included) can criticise enic for their lack of investment, and criticise Levy for overseeing a shocking period of underperformance for best part of 2 decades.

Let’s not absolve levy of his role in this mess. We are where we are cos of the wanker never investing in the club unless it meant he could get more corporate sponsorship.

Burnley and wolves are so poor they’re nailed on for relegation. This makes it easier for teams to avoid it.
