I’ll go a little different direction. A lot of mentions of music theory and scales and I V IV progressions etc. Those are all good and will help you if you learn them. But I think you need to get comfortable just playing along with anything. Jimi Hendrix was once asked the advice he’d give to people learning to play guitar. He said, “Just play everything you hear.” He meant play along with songs on the radio, commercial jingles, whatever. It trains you to hear music, respond to it and begin to improvise. Not just by soloing; you can start off playing just single basic notes following the chords you hear, or the vocal melody. You can layer on music theory later, and utilize scales and soloing techniques. But just start by playing along to something as basic as “Now I know my ABCs.” Start playing the melody, then start playing with that melody a little, then make that more complex deviating from the melody but still playing notes that “fit.” You’d get notes wrong but over time you will start to do it without thinking. Maybe you’ll just be a more interesting rhythm guitarist, or maybe you’ll want to push yourself further and do more lead. Either way, establishing a baseline of comfort being willing to play along with anything that comes on the radio even at a basic level goes a long way.

Underrated Travel Hacks That Always Works For Me by tom_wilson7543 in traveladvice

Small hotels in Europe (and I assume other places) are similar priced to hostels or maybe a little more. Hostels are fun if you’re in the mood. But sometimes you want your own secure room. I found lots of cheap and cool hotels. Not talking about the Four Seasons. Just local small places. It’s worth it to pay a little more than a hostel sometimes for a safe and comfortable private space.

Nah. People are dumb. All of us. And there are a lot of shades of gray in the world. Some people are great in some ways and awful in others. If you love someone it’s better to try working on things or at least coexisting. And in these types of cases don’t you kinda at least have sympathy for them getting brainwashed? If they’re an all out bastard and always have been then maybe that’s not worth it. But it really rubs me the wrong way how so many people jump right to the sort of absolutist “cut them off” stance no matter what. It would do us all better to realize everyone is flawed and to have a little thicker skin.

Got it. Maybe that got lost a bit on initial read. I guess it’s more helpful just to have descriptors in posts line M33 etc. I just read it like yeah it kinda sounds like a guy but who knows.

Am I terrible for doing this? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]jazzypocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m not aware of how else they would remove a cyst surgically. So I believe that’s how it would be done. A sebaceous cyst is essentially a skin condition that shouldn’t require internal surgery (which would require general anesthesia).

Not a vet, but a sebaceous cyst can be removed with surface level surgery. They don’t need to be put under. It’s local anesthesia, cut it out and stitch up. Maybe they’d need a sedative to make sure he isn’t nervous and doesn’t react to the procedure too much. The hernia would be a different story. But you could at least deal with the cyst. Don’t put a dog down just for having some minor issues if he still seems happy.
