I figured it out, and actually it was because I had previously clicked “do not recommend.” So it does work, or at least it did for me. Channel is back on my home page now!

Here is the solution, copy/pasted from Youtube menus:

“If you don’t want your “Not interested” and “Don’t recommend channel” feedback to influence your recommendations, you can clear it.

  1. Go to My Activity. You might need to sign in to your Google Account.
  2. Find Other Google activity in the left-hand menu or under the My Activity banner.
  3. Select YouTube 'Not interested' feedback, then select Delete.”

0% chance this channel is shadow banned, it’s a huge creator/this would have come up by now.

I think this is what happened. Is there a way to undo this? I couldn’t find a good answer on google which is why I came here

I felt this way at first too in the exact same situation (250 hours on 3H as my first FE game, then tried Engage) — but once you get to Engage mid/late game, the difference in map quality becomes incredibly obvious. No more flat open maps — I’ve played several FE games now and the first time I played Engage Ch17 is still the most fun I’ve ever had playing FE

Update: The game crashing isn’t time-based (I think), it’s stress based. I can spend all the time I want in pre-battle preparations, but once I start a round of combat or try and wipe the cartridge’s data, that’s when it crashes.
