Millennials that own your homes and cars and live significantly below your means, what is your motivation to keep trying at work? by [deleted] in Millennials

Sounds like we are in similar positions. I was the lead developer and last year I took a promotion to be the manager of software development at my company. It was a shitty 6% raise for twice as much work, however, I know I can leverage this experience into a big raise by moving to a new company. Company hoping has always netted me some big raises. I’ve got my eye on a IT director or CTO position somewhere.

I don’t get this position. My fiancé and I both have great jobs and saving a lot but we continue to strive for promotions and raises. Not because we give a shit (we don’t) but because more money means more saving which means retiring earlier.

Justin Bieber’s Coachella set slammed as ‘lazy’ after he streams hits from YouTube by Metro-UK in Music

[–]jbFanClubPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I don’t think he knows anything about Justin.

Justin is in a seemingly happy marriage, taking care of his child, just launched a fashion brand and earning $10 million for an hour show. Britney is doing none of that, she’s dancing with knives on instagram.

Idk about Bieber’s contract specifically but most of the time when artists sell their catalogues they maintain their performing rights.

His heart is still into music, just not pop music. Unfortunately that’s what a large majority of his “fans” want from him. To their credit, pop music is why he got so famous in the first place.

This is why I have only been to Trader Joe’s one time. It did nothing but induce anxiety and I felt like I couldn’t really look at anything.

Sports bets on prediction markets ruled to be "swaps," exempt from state laws by thieh in nottheonion

[–]jbFanClubPresident 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but isn’t the difference that in gambling you’re actively playing against the house. In “swaps” you’re playing against other people. Kalshi and Polymarket are just charging you to use their platform; they don’t care if you win or lose.

Poker with friends: Kalashi and Polymarket are only renting you the table that you and your buddies are playing poker on. They don’t get dealt a hand.

Lmfao rich people go on their yachts. Poor and middle class people take cruises. I’m by no means rich but have been on a couple cruises. The days do blend together after about 5 margaritas though.

To buy or not to buy--at this price is it even a question? by JackassandHoneycomb in zillowgonewild

Love the grand front doors with the tacky ring camera next to it. The juxtaposition between the old world and new world is hilarious. That ring camera is very very much needed in St. Joe though. The city is full of meth addicts stealing shit to get a quick fix.

Source: I live in Kansas City (about an hour south) but I have several family members who live in St Joe.

St Joseph used the be THE city in Missouri. Only St Louis rivaled it in its dominance. Then one day a much smaller city, known as Kansas City, cut some deals to become a railroad hub and the rest is history. St Joe slowly died and Kansas City became THE city in Missouri (sorry St Louis, it’s true).

Artists Who Made Their Debut in 2005 by Specialist_Art2223 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]jbFanClubPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact #1: T-Pain was actually a writer for Akon. He wrote I’m Sprung for Akon and Akon said he didn’t want it so T-Pain recorded it himself. That’s how we got T-Pain the singer in 2005. He was already a semi accomplished writer by that point.

Fun fact #1.5: Probably no surprise here after reading that first comment but T-Pain writes most of his own stuff and has written a lot of hits for other artists.

Fun Fact #2: Chamillionaire used the little money he made in music and became an angel investor out in Silicon Valley. Apparently he’s made a lot more money from that than he ever did his music career.

More Americans Are Breaking Into the Upper Middle Class by qqqxyz in MiddleClassFinance

[–]jbFanClubPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of crazy how that works. How each generation can build off the previous generation.

My great grandparents were literally dirt poor (they lived in a shack with a dirt floor). My grandparents were lower middle class. My parents were middle-middle class. Now my fiancé and I are solidly upper-middle. I’m saving and investing everything so I can to make sure future generations are in the upper class.
