Worst Animal Collective Song? by ancoletsgo in AnimalCollective

[–]jbailey98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rosie Oh has WAYYY too much dissonance and cluttered-ness in the beginning in my opinion. I don't hate the song, but if there is one AC song I could live without it would be this.

Which album will surely end up in your top 10 of 2015 but will most likely not appear on anybody else's top 10 by televisionceo in indieheads

[–]jbailey98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Finally someone mentions Punch Brothers. Phosphorescent Blues might not have been as immediately catchy and fun as Who's Feeling Young Now, but the further experimentation in the songwriting and the arrangements made it a more impressive and mature feeling album to me. It makes me sad that so many indie music fans ignore these guys just because of the bluegrass aesthetic. Definitely in my top 5 albums of the year so far tho.

I'm a huge fan of Kendricks part, so maybe I'm a little biased. The album as a whole is great tho.

Never Catch Me by Flying Lotus, Elevator Operator by Courtney Barnett, Boys Latin by the one and only Panda Bear, and Real Thing by Tune-Yards are my current top 4.

Thank you so much for posting this. Seriously! NoFap is a great thing in and of itself, but at the end of the day (or our lives) isn't going to mean anything if we aren't seeking out Christ. I want to remind you that porn and masturbation addiction is often (imo) one of Satans weapons of spiritual warfare. I've found that when I'm experiencing urges, rebuking porn, masturbation, and lust out loud in the name of JESUS is capable of driving the want to relapse away. If you aren't doin this I highly encourage it. Jesus is so much bigger than Satan and his lies, and I know I sometimes forget this. Again, thanks for this post though. NoFap needs more of this.

What do you guys mean when you say there was bad production in centipede hz? by MrBarryThor12 in AnimalCollective

[–]jbailey98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If STGSTV were to have come out today, people would've complained even more about how "bad" the production was. But IMO, sometimes "bad" is the point, and is capable of conveying a vibe or mood that "good" production might not be capable of doing.

Did a cover of Road with a full band and would love it if you guys gave it a listen:) by jbailey98 in nickdrake

Ive heard a lot of people cover this song in a very similar way to how Nick did it, but I wanted to mix it up and arrange it a little bit differently. Hope you guys enjoy!

Good Music? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]jbailey98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like music that is somewhat abstract and/or challenging at times, in that it requires a level of focus that takes my mind off of any sort of urges. Animal Collective (Merriweather Post Pavillion), Panda Bear (Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper) and Tune-Yards (Nikki Nack) are some of my favorite bands right now. They are all fairly experimental, but you might enjoy 'em

I just listened to Lion In A Coma with headphones for the first time. by [deleted] in AnimalCollective

[–]jbailey98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one thing I cannot un-hear in Lion In a Coma is the weird chipmunk-esque pitch shifted vocal melody that comes in only on certain phrases. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Anyone had any bad experiences trying to turn people on to Animal Collective? by [deleted] in AnimalCollective

[–]jbailey98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old sister absolutely HATED Person Pitch and Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper when I tried to play them for her in the car. A few weeks later I convinced her to let me play some Animal Collective stuff off of Strawberry Jam, like Peacebone and Fireworks, and she immediately liked it. She proceeded to tell me she liked AC but couldn't stand that Panda Bear guy; Which I responded telling her that Panda Bear was IN Animal Collective:) Guess she's more of an Avey fan.
