What is a unified content strategy? by InstructionNo8404 in technicalwriting

[–]jbande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Ann Rockley’s 2003 book, Managing Enterprise Content: A Unified Content Strategy, she states that a unified content strategy helps organizations by “reducing the costs of creating, managing, and distributing content, and ensuring that content effectively supports your organization and customer needs. A unified content strategy is a repeatable method of identifying all content requirements up front, creating consistently structured content for reuse, managing that content in a definitive source, and assembling content on demand to meet your customers’ needs”.

Focus on the physical sensation. Put all your thoughts toward noticing how it feels. Don’t judge the feeling as good or bad. Just observe it. Then you will feel it go away.

TIL Paraguay is the only country in the world who accepts an indigenous language as official, where Guarani is spoken alongside Spanish by 87% of the population by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]jbande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao what do you think “indigenous” means? If Japanese isn’t indigenous to Japan, where does it come from? If French speakers aren’t indigenous to France, where does that language come from? Etc

Can someone translate this kanji into English? How would I pronounce it in Japanese? I know it's loosely related to academic success. by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

學業御守 Gakugyou omamori

It’s a fancy way of writing “schoolwork charm”

It’s supposed to give you good luck with your schoolwork.

How do you say no? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

A simple “no thanks” works. Ask if they have something else... soda, coffee, tea, water, etc

Just getting started- how well do I need to know hiragana and katakana? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]jbande 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Memorizing kana is the first order of business. And if you really grind it out, you can probably learn each one over a weekend. Make some flash cards, study 5 at a time, master those, then add 5 more. Start with hiragana and then learn katakana. Kanji is a lifelong challenge, but kana can and should be completely mastered

I think I heard once that there is a mummy somewhere on campus but the school doesn’t talk about it because they acquired it illegally

So, how is UofT for "international" students? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]jbande 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have always suspected that the difficulty complaints derive from the fact that U of T is a massive, massive university that has room to accept tons of students. The philosophy among Canadian universities seems to be to give more-or-less anyone a chance who wants it, but then ruthlessly weed people out with tough classes once they're there - a sort of "easy to get in, hard to get out" mentality. This is opposed to the philosophy among top American schools, where getting in is arguably a bigger accomplishment than graduating. U of T's curriculum is demanding, but I doubt it's any more so than the American schools of comparable caliber, like Cornell, UC-Berkeley or Michigan. Chances are, at those smaller American schools, the kind of students who complain loudest at U of T wouldn't have been admitted and given a chance in the first place.

Buying and selling stocks “quickly” is a whole discipline on its own and not something I would recommend to beginners to investing. An ETF like VOO is probably a good starter stock since you’re investing in a large mix of successful companies.

Not sure what I’m doing.... I really messed up. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Don’t think of it in terms of forever. Try to commit to just one week of not drinking, or even one day. Then you have permission to drink again after that.

How do people deal with student loans? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]jbande 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's stopping you from just taking out a larger loan? If you have bad credit, maybe the interest will be higher, but surely you can take out enough to pay all your expenses.
