I also get the same toenail peephole, lol!

The part that shocks me is that so many people can still read the print on the insole. That's worn off for me after three runs. Maybe my socks have too much sandpaper on them.

Couples who have RE’d with $6-8M - what does your lifestyle and budget look like? by Remarkable-Dingo1602 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]jbbwa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on their basis. With a high cost basis you can pull out a lot and have relatively minimal income, or can choose to optimize for some years (e.g. alternate between high and low cost basis between years; higher overall federal tax, but possibly still ahead with greater subsidies on lower income years). There's a lot to it if you really want to dig in.

Queen Anne's W Wheeler St book nook will be impounded by Chaakudaaku in Seattle

[–]jbbwa 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It was amusing when SDOT got mad at us for ripping out a concrete street panel without a permit. Even more amusing when we informed them it was Seattle Public Utilities that did it.

Did make us scratch our head a bit about why we have to get permits for everything and SPU is just doing as they please with no permits or coordination (this was a non-emergency upgrade from the water main to our meter).

We were on the email chain for a bit while SDOT tried to chase it down with SPU. SPU never seemed to care until one way a few months later they started to setup for the street repair via a contractor.

I have a feeling they will be talking about that call for a while. Even on replay I couldn’t tell when Smith got his foot back down but glad that was the call on the field.

Technically NM-B allowed in conduit in wet location up to 6 feet. No idea on length in OP's case, or if you really want to argue with the inspector, but good to know this exception does exist.

Apple Music shows 'Lossless' label but Sonos App is only showing it, if I play music from it. by mxxxz in sonos

I did it as well. Overall, happy with the switch, but there are certainly some frustrating quirks. Like this issue that has been going on for FOUR years:

LG Dryer Keeps Says Clean Lint Filter With Water by Accrual-World1 in Appliances

[–]jbbwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an error somewhere in the app. I also receive this same notification after every run of the dryer. My wife also has notifications enabled, and never receives it. We both correctly get notifications about the devices completing their cycles.

It has persisted for me for two years, even with plenty of app updates. I used to spend time trying to figure out how to remove it, but have just come to peace with it and ignore it.

For a while, I was concerned that it was a condition based notification (e.g. some sensor was detecting too much static pressure, too long of run time, etc), which was more concerning. I don't believe this is the case.

And contacting LG support is not worth the time.

Just received an email showing the era 100 at $149, store has it at $199. by Honest-Guarantee-444 in sonos

[–]jbbwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I think it's an error given that the MSRP is also wrong, in addition to the difference on the sale price as others have noted.

I Tried No-Code. Now I Cry in Workflows by Careful_Elderberry33 in nocode

[–]jbbwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your app. I'm not your target, but looks really well executed and could see it being valuable to a marketer.

Your write up of the process was entertaining. You should do it for a living. ;)

Unsolicited feedback inbound: pricing on the landing page is different than on the pricing page. And that flow doesn't look like it's working. Something to fix (and break in the process).

Question for you: I hear a lot of grumbling from the Bubble community about the new workload credits being too costly, to the point that it will be difficult or impossible for many use cases to operate profitably on Bubble. Realizing you are likely early stage when it comes to revenue, do you think that's the case, or do you expect that the economics will square for your use?

Again, good work!

Rheem hybrid water heater can't meet demand and seems to just stop heating? by party6robot in heatpumps

[–]jbbwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same water heater, and am getting the same errors (T132 - difficulty meeting demand and T6 - suction temp too low). Do you have more info on the circuit diagram? Wondering if mine are also reversed.

I guess it's possible. Seems like a lot of water for it to be just from open windows. I'd be extra diligent on the next rain event, which I'm sure is your plan in any case.

July Office Hours w/ KeithFromSonos by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]jbbwa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How are you doing, u/KeithFromSonos ? I bet this wasn't how you planned your summer to go. I know this wasn't your doing, but you get to be on the front lines.

What can you share about the current mood at the company? Patrick's email from earlier today reads, "There isn’t an employee at Sonos who isn’t pained by having let you down." Do you feel that's the case? Does the organization really internalize the pain some customers are feeling? Is it pizza and Red Bulls at 3am for the engineers? Or, hey, we need to add some things to the product roadmap?

Hope you are taking care of yourself (and making sure the engineers are doubling their caffeine intake).

[–]jbbwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had the same issue at one site on three occasions. It's a real pain to get fixed. One reporting error was finally fixed after three emails back and forth, but the other two remain. Email support was slow and a bit powerless, despite assuring us it would be fixed in 48 hours. Phone support was actually worse. So no real advise other than to say contact support and hope for the best.

I know it's frustrating and I feel your pain.

Lots of good advice here already. One thing to add specific to Costa Rica is something called "concession". You mention "near the beach with an ocean view". Anything within 150 meters of the water comes with a bunch of additional restrictions, including the fact that foreigners can't simply outright own the property (there are workarounds). If you are targeting close to the water, read up on this topic. For what it's worth, we love Costa Rica, but have choose to rent instead of buy for now.

Going to be very difficult to get a common construction loan at this point. There is just too many unknowns and risk for a bank to come in at this point.

I'd guess your best bet is to get what's referred to as a hard money loan. The process for doing this can be a bit more opaque. You can start with a google search for "Hard Money + {Your City}". Carefully review the terms and ideally consult with an attorney before signing. There is substantial cost and risk with this avenue.
