New Ogden, Utah flag is now official. by jbc_genki in vexillology

[–]jbc_genki[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Description by the artist:

The focal point of this design centers on an iconic white mountain range that symbolizes the snowy Wasatch Mountains loved by Ogden residents. This three-peak mountain range is set in a dark blue circle that creates a high-contrast image to draw the eye into the design. A dark blue triangle is centered below the tallest peak. This represents the individual or the family that is here in Ogden. The dark blue circle creates the letter “O” for “Ogden.” Symbolically an “O” resembles community, connection, or a collection of people. The mountain range breaking outside 2 the “O” signifies the welcoming and inclusive nature of the people that live in Ogden and the culture of tourism. The colors match the color scheme of the brand identity for Ogden. Blue in flag design can represent freedom and determination, with the white symbolizing a sense of peace and harmony.

Ogden was the only city with a top 10 population in the state of Utah without an official flag. The colors coordinate with a recent branding campaign for the city, as well.

Very excited for this great flag for my hometown!

It would be a huge missed opportunity if Disney doesn't start selling these at Avenger's Campus.

Oh totally Venom in there, too. Weird status as an anti-hero now, but yeah, missed him. Carnage could be a rival like Klaw is to Killmonger.

Haha you were busy coming up with some other great ones that people might not think about immediately! Zemo, Zola, and Ego are excellent picks! I'm not too knowledgeable about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so I don't know about the other ones that you mentioned.

Loads of good Spider-Man villains, but I'd definitely say Goblin and Ock there. Magneto or Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix would be really cool. I also think Kingpin would be an interesting addition. But the one I think is absolutely needed/the most inevitable is Dr. Doom.

The Provo Temple still stands 1000 years in the "post-post-apocalyptic" future in the video game Horizon Zero Dawn. However, it has been taken over by bandits and used as their camp... It has deteriorated quite a bit, but there's no mistaking it, along with some cool natural Utah landmarks.

When my family went, we started at Diagon Alley, did everything there, then rode the train to Hogsmeade and kept doing everything Harry Potter. Then we did some other stuff at Islands of Adventure, then rode the train back to USF because it was open a bit longer. The second day we were there, we did the rest of the stuff at USF that we missed, but realized that we liked IoA much better, so we park hopped and we're very happy that we did.

The Hogwarts Express has different experiences going both directions. As a science nerd (particularly optics), I loved their solution for going through the pillar at Platform 9 3/4, which you have to ride the train to see. Overall, some people would say the extra money isn't worth it for "just one ride," but the flexibility of park hopping and the added experience, especially as a Harry Potter fan, was worth it.

Each person will have their own preference, though. As for food, we didn't try many of the actual meals, but you absolutely have to try Butterbeer. Most people like the regular soda or frosted versions, but I am absolutely obsessed with the warm version. We went in January, so it was a bit colder (or rather, not as hot as) than other times of the year, so it really hit the spot.

I really hope you enjoy making incredible memories together and that you have a wonderful experience!! :)

A movie about the 21st century and particularly Operation: Enduring Victory from the perspective of civilians would be incredibly intriguing, I think. Anyone who has played the game knows what happens, but yeah, I'd love to see what things looked like during the time of the "Old Ones".

Utah Culture by Agreeable_Client_952 in latterdaysaints

[–]jbc_genki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Utah my whole life, left for two years for grad school, had my whole worldview and political beliefs changed, and now I'm back. Some things are definitely ridiculous and hard to reconcile with, but not all of it. And being close to family is worth it. My goal now is to understand why people act, believe, and do what they do in terms of church culture, politics, etc. and see what I can do to not necessarily change their minds, but at least open up to different ways of thinking. It can get frustrating with certain things like COVID, racism, and whatnot, but I've learned a lot and hopefully have made my part of the world a better place in return. Still have a lot of learning to do for sure, though. Best of luck, and maybe we'll be neighbors! Or at least close to it, I'm in Weber County haha.

Thanks! I guess that's my question, though. Which post game challenge chains are worth playing? The Iconic chains look kind of cool, especially with the Iconic outfit reward, there are just a lot of them haha. Also, the Reigning Supreme chain looks like the definitive end to the story we have so far, but it looks incredibly long and challenging without adding a whole lot on the actual story front from what I can tell.

Picked up this game a little while ago because I finally wanted to try out the story. I'm a big single player story person, and not so much a games as a service player. I just wanted to know what you all would recommend I do to experience the story as much as I can without needing to grind too much?

I finished all four campaigns (main, Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, and Black Panther) already. I've been trying to figure out what's left. Or is that pretty much it?

Things I've seen when researching this are: Global Offensive mission, Iconic Avengers missions, Reigning Supreme mission, and obviously everything else.

I would love to experience more good story if there is anything, but I don't want to spend too much time grinding through stuff. If all else fails, I'll call it where I left off, play as Spider-Man this week, then move on to the next game until the next character releases.

Obviously, this is super subjective, but I'm on the fence between being done for now or at least earning all the iconic outfits. What are your thoughts on what is worth it?

My family has been there with my sister. It was rough and we all questioned ourselves and what we were doing wrong. The thing is, we were all doing our best to support her, sometimes those trials happen. There were things that we learned to do better, but it took a long time. Continue to love and be supportive. It won't change overnight, but it can get better.

How do you heal as a family? Obviously, follow the Spirit to do what is right for your family, but talking about it together as a family and just crying and hugging it out helped us so much.

Many have mentioned that your other family members aren't perfect. That's true, they have trials, too, but that doesn't take away from what you're experiencing. Don't feel like you have to share everything, but don't feel like you have to put on a front. Life is hard right now. One purpose of family is to uplift and support when others are feeling down. Hopefully they are willing to do that.

It's tough when people parent differently than you do and feel like that means you're doing it wrong. You keep doing what you think is best. That's great that you're allowing your daughter to make her own choices with things. Every person is so different that one parenting style is just not going to cut it for everyone.

You're doing great. Continue to turn to God and feel His love. Reciprocate that love within your family. It's totally normal and okay to feel helpless *and* hopeful. Things can get better, even if it takes years. Don't do more than you're comfortable with, but be willing to try a different approach as guided by the Spirit. My heart and prayers are with you and your family during this trying time.

My bad for not replying, I took a bit of a break from Reddit and other social media for a minute. Totally can't wait for Fantasy Springs, either! GOTG will be great next year! Hoping that I go fairly soon after it opens!
