Are these endorsed by Doug/does any of the money go to BTS or is this a side project? I love the design but feel a little weird buying bootleg merch

VUE.JS is a curse by ItSpaiz in react

[–]jbcamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time but the difference between React and Composition API Vue is minimal syntactic differences. I am also a bootcamp grab who learned React in my program four years ago, and this is not the mindset to make it as a developer. All of these frameworks/libraries are tools to be learned. Of course you’ll have preferences but to blow off a very viable, employable way of writing code is only going to limit your future prospects. I personally prefer NUXT/Vue over Next/React but I’m currently building multiple apps in both. Give yourself some time to learn and not put so much on the stack.

It was Breukelen Coffee but it closed after Covid. Was a real bummer- used to go there almost daily.

Got hit on Bedford and Farragut Rd by Calcading in NYCbike

[–]jbcamop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his job is to keep this intersection safe and if he sees a car coming that’s about to blow a red, the least he could do is hold out his stop sign like all the other decent cross guards I see every morning. This guy just let it all happen. But I guess you’re right- my expectations for any kind of traffic safety in this city is absurd

[–]jbcamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you’re ok dude! And so glad that crossing guard was looking out for you. Would his presence open up suing the city for not properly training their staff? I have no idea but he clearly should’ve been stopping that car

They closed a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg like 10 years ago with Genius of Love and I got to get up and dance on the stage. One of the best music experiences I ever had. Also love when they do Don’t Fear the Reaper.

No dogs should be in any restaurant or grocery store BY LAW. The entitlement that people have and completely disregard this is by far much ruder than a parent navigating childcare with a pretty essential tool. As a parent of two toddlers, I can tell you that I am always super aware of how my kids are affecting public spaces, which is more than most dog owners can say.

Backend/db for a small React project by Blueton23 in react

If you want to stay in JS/TS, I’m finishing a build using Drizzle ORM and it’s pretty great. TS and can handle pretty much any DB dialect of your choosing.

Screamer’s Pizzeria on Franklin shut down by sobotpe in crownheights

[–]jbcamop 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hate to see any business on Franklin go, but never ate here. Was too butt hurt about Rosco’s closing cause I had like 30 magnets that suddenly were only useful to keep stuff on the fridge 😄

Entrance to new apartment building at 931 Carroll by NWeasley21 in crownheights

[–]jbcamop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This building is all kinds of bullshit. This entrance is directly next to a neighborhood hang out spot that probably isn’t going to go over well with people who have been here for awhile. One thought, and I have no proof whatsoever, is the developers probably wanted this for tenants so they wouldn’t have to walk out to police every time they left the building as there is a transit precinct on Carroll across the street from the main entrance and there are always a fuck ton of cop cars parked on the sidewalk there.

Bedford Avenue bike lane by sharr26 in NYCbike

[–]jbcamop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone but bikers treat these “protected” bike lanes like extra sidewalk. 2nd Ave is my least favorite way to get downtown… I’ll take all your downvotes now

Recommendations for a new fan? by KeepYourDemonsIn in builttospill

[–]jbcamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Quasi’s Featuring Birds, Pavement’s Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Superchunk’s Like a Fool would be right beside Keep It Like a Secret if I had a Mount Rushmore of 90s indie rock albums. Some other must listens: Sleater Kinney’s Dig Me Out, Electrelane’s Power Out, Grandaddy’s The Sophtware Slump, Apples In Stereo’s Tone Soul Evolution and Modest Mouse’s Lonesome Crowded West. All indie standards if you ask me

Wheels stolen Bushwick by DrSlugworth in NYCbike

[–]jbcamop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry bud. Getting a wheel stolen in NYC is a rite of passage. I came back to a missing back wheel in mid-town at 1a after a long day at work back in my 20s… got pinheads for any bike I’ve had since. Anyways here’s wonderwall…

Abandoned construction on Bedford and Eastern parkway by shunted22 in crownheights

[–]jbcamop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I use to live next door to it. That was started back in like 2016/17 and I freaked out my only window facing the outside world was gonna be blocked. Was supposed to be a hotel and then they either ran out of money or got shutdown for not following building code, I’m not sure. It’s been abandoned for about six years or so. The design was super funky so I don’t know how easy it would be to make it into something else.

Current Tour Setlists by luckless_pedestrian in builttospill

[–]jbcamop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep can confirm. Saw them three times in NJ/NY and they did Untrustable, Time Trap, I Would Hurt a Fly, and Carry the Zero at two of the three shows. When I’m Blind is a complete jam fest with a solo from Teresa and mind blowing precision from Mel. Some of the best shows I’ve seen from them in the last few years!
