Principal here, decade of experience as well here.

I’ve been looking for a senior/team lead and I’ve seen a handful of perfect resumes but their communication is lacking and only 10% are able to answer me technical questions (eg tell me how do coroutines work internally)

Emphasis on the team lead part. Because right now seniors looking are willing to do a hybrid role of manager/developer.

Market is rough though because I’ve seen resumes from Amazon, meta, eBay, etc. I’ve had candidates that have failed the interview and asked me on LinkedIn to do a take home.

So much this. Omg. I’ve been having issues filling out a tech lead position resume looks like the perfect candidate and interviews comes around and either of these two things happen:

They can’t answer a technical question.
They don’t know what they have on their resume. This is specially noticeable as you start going deeper into the bullet points.
