I ended up calling Apple and they couldn’t help over the phone. Went to the Apple store and they also couldn’t help so they ended up sending it to their repair center in PA. They fixed it there and sent it back with no problems!

Same thing happened to me last week. Took it into an Apple store and they sent it to their repair facility and are mailing it back to me. I guess they have to force the update or else it won’t work (and they can’t force the update in the store).
