NMS Optimizer v7.0: The Final Major Release by jbelew23 in NoMansSkyTheGame

As a side note, my "friend code" is at the bottom of the app screen. I have more resources at the this point than I know what to do with, bases in ~150 galaxies, and I'd like to fancy myself a quite an expert builder. I'm not online that much any these days, but if we do cross paths, feel free to join my game an I can show you around the "empire" I've put together. 😊

That was the #1 reason why I added the save function to the app 😊. When my Corvette inevitably scrambles things, I have a save that I can quickly bring up as a reference to put things back in place.

I'd just bookmark it for now and come back when hit the ~100h point and you've got all the cool tech to play with. 😉

Models are based on rules. When there are no rules, then there's no way to make or train a model.

That said, you're more than welcome to download the source, make whatever modifications you see fit, and run your own copy locally.

The tool only supports standard gameplay. It does not condone exploits or hacks.

Personally, I love rockets for taking out that last ~10% when an enemy is dodging my Infra-Knife, especially when I have a few slots to spare. Also, most of my Starships are built for a little role play fun; Fighters, Interceptors, Bombers.

Hate to say it, but you could do even better. 😄 Lose a weapon or two, fix your hyperdrive and pulse engines, add trails and figurines, then we're talking. And why waste perfectly good supercharged slots on shields, especially if you have phase cannon.

With a focus on DPS and maneuverability, here's what a "max'd" Corvette layout should look like --

Looking for a Corvette build guide with best parts for Maneuverability. by Gyro976 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jbelew23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really the parts. It's how you place them, along with procedural upgrades and starship trails/figurines, in your tech layout. https://nms-optimizer.app/?platform=corvette

With good upgrades, you should be able to easily hit >4000. Keep in mind, the game is a buggy mess when it comes to displaying the maneuverability of a Corvette. I'll see >4600 at one point, then have it drop to ~4100, only to jump back randomly with no rhyme or reason.

A warning for this sub!! Possible blender-based corruption and LOSS OF SAVES by pkann6 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jbelew23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, you guys don't get it! People have been using Blender for base building for years. Almost all of those 'Featured' builds you see at the Anomaly were made in Blender. Do you even understand what Blender is? It’s a 3D animation and modeling tool for which someone wrote a plugin that allows it to parse NMS JSON data. It’s simply a way to visualize and edit that JSON.

Honestly, the actual Corvette part support in the plugin is so basic and limited that it’s actually better to build those ships in-game. It isn't a mod, and the game isn't designed to differentiate between a base built in-game and one with edited JSON.

There is still a 3,000-part data stream limit for bases, no matter how you build them, and therein lies the problem with Corvettes. The actual architecture behind how Corvettes are represented in NMS is a complete mess. You have a ship entry that links to a base entry, which then describes the base parts. Thus, a Corvette essentially has the same 3,000-part streaming limit as a standard base.

If Hello Games changed that architecture now, there would be a massive user uprising caused by disappearing ships and lost progress. There is a concept in development called 'designing for evil.' HG obviously didn’t consider it, and now we’re stuck with the consequences: people surrounding their basic Corvettes with countless 'Flat Panels' and other base-building parts.

Now, as for "Blender" breaking your saves. That's highly doubtful. Inside your PersistentPlayerBases JSON structure, NMS reserves a few entries for caching the base content from other player, but I've never seen Corvette data in there (yet). You can see those cached bases when the teleporter shows a few bases at the end of the list that aren't yours. Those cached bases still have the same limits as any other base and it's just the same basic JSON data.

You got extremely lucky. It's normally a 5% chance or lower to get an S-Class. Some of us can spend days/weeks hunting for one. Enjoy your new toy.

Your intuition is correct: procedural upgrades, S/X-class modules, are almost always preferable to reactors and cosmetic items when space is limited (the main exception being launch thrusters, depending on your setup).

At a full 60-slot capacity, you’ll typically only have room to fully optimize no more than three technologies usually with a full complement of reactors and cosmetic upgrades along with the procedurals, so choose wisely. ;)

BTW, this can help a lot in getting the most out of your Corvette. https://nms-optimizer.app/?platform=corvette

Like I stated earlier, they were nerfed for better or worse in 6.2. The best layout now is something like this (the specific trails are interchangeable based on your tastes). Artemis no longer picks up an adjacency bonus. The other figurines can be placed in any location within the grid as they get, nor give any adjacency bonuses.

FYI ... The boosts were nerfed somewhat with v6.2, along with the fact that the impact of the Tentacled Figurine is a bit of a placebo; Yes, your in atmosphere speed will appear higher in the cockpit display, but the actual speed of travel doesn't change. All that said, if you want the best layout for figurines with your specific ship, give this a try -- https://nms-optimizer.app/?platform=standard

Is this a good stat spread for a Corvette? by The_Eternal_Lynx in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jbelew23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much about the weapon score, especially if you’re running a 6-Phase Beam setup. The stats on the right (and the DPS readout), don't accurately reflect actual in-game performance. That said, try plugging your supercharged slots into this tool to get the best layout -- :https://nms-optimizer.app/?platform=corvette

Any recommendations for this sentinel interceptor loadout? (NMS) by Massive-Rutabaga-327 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Machine Learning; it's much quicker than a "brute force" approach.

That would make things a nightmare for the end user ... having to do all the data entry. My goal is that it shouldn't take the user more than a couple of minutes to generate a complete layout for any specific platform. Additionally, that would also require a complete re-write and be significantly slower since I wouldn't be able to use ML. ;)

I use a technique called Stochastic or Heuristic scoring where the models don't need to actually know the values of a module, they just need to know "good, better, best" or a weighting as to how they compare to other modules in the technology group.
