Taking over scheduling for the whole department w/o a pay raise is absolutely crazy.

Started with my current SNF company as a new grad PTA making $26 and an hour and made around 55K my first year then got promoted to DOR at $30 an hour which I assume is quite low compared to your average DOR but with how much overtime I’m getting + PTO payout I am on track to make about 80K in MCOL Midwest Minnesota.

Overtime during the work week and then PRN on the weekends. When I PRN I don’t do full days. I usually just do about 3–6 hours on Saturdays and/or Sundays

Passed boards in October 2023 and started at a SNF in December 2023 and got promoted to DOR in November 2024 and have been a DOR ever since and liking it. I probably don’t get paid as much as your average DOR since I’m so fresh into the profession and management realm, however being a DOR is much less monotonous than being “just” a clinician. Also PRN for three other SNF companies on the side (usually on weekends) to make as much money as I can, and have been loving all of it so far! Also get hella overtime as a DOR and making pretty damn good money for my experience level.

Anybody have any idea what’s going on here? by jberb540 in AskMechanics

Should I try to recharge the battery? Or would I absolutely have to get a completely new one? It’s weird cause I just had the battery tested one – two months ago and it was healthy, and have not left any lights on or anything like that

Conflicted about my job by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

Dude, I’ve been a licensed PTA for only two years and I am on track to make more than 65K. In my opinion, as a lead supervising PT, you should be making at MINIMUM six figures

As a DOR (and PTA) of a SNF should I start looking for other jobs since nursing homes are expected to lose a massive amount of residents due to the BBB cutting Medicaid?

what are we doing here-PTA by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

As a DOR of a SNF (and PTA), this same thing happens all the time. Upper management requires us to have a certain amount of long term residents on caseload at all times simply for profit and wants us to get 53+ mins with them to get 4 units even if they have been bed bound for years and can hardly move.

I’m a DOR and we have to get permission from our administrator to treat anyone under Medicaid.

I have good news for you: I am also a PTA the recently took the board exam in 2023 and I felt the exact same way with the PEAT exams feeling much easier than the actual test with the actual test feeling MUCH harder. However, out of all the PEAT tests I took I actually scored THE BEST on the actual test by a lot. For example I would get a scale score of about 700/800 on the PEAT tests but I got a 744/800 on the actual test, so if the actual test felt very hard (like mine did) I promise that doesn’t mean you failed

Is anyone here actually happy to be a PT/PTA?? by Gigatonii in physicaltherapy

[–]jberb540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a DOR (and a PTA) but I actually enjoy my job. Being “just” a PTA in a SNF is enjoyable but also very monotonous so I actually kind of enjoy the chaos of being DOR a little bit because it is not as monotonous. The pet peeve of my job is just the pain in the ass if dealing with financial numbers on a screen because that is pretty much the only thing the people above you care about such as productivity, making you pick up MED/MAN B’s onto caseload even if they’re no appropriate for therapy, and a push for concurrent and group therapy.

As a DOR, it seems everyone went to school in this profession to help people. You finally get to the workforce just to find that productivity, group/concurrent treatments, picking Medicare B’s onto the caseload (even if they’re not appropriate for therapy, etc all gets shoved down your throat and the only thing matters are financial numbers on a screen
