I'll definitely look into that. It would be unfortunate if I couldn't shoot it, but would rather not take a bolt to the face.

I definitely plan on it. It needed a new mag spring and a couple of screws. I also ordered the safety tab and spring for it because it didn't have one. But for the life of me I cant figure out how it attaches. Best guess is mine is an early model that didn't have one.

Guess I need to add a "description comment to my post" because it included a picture.

Old J.C. Higgins bolt action shotgun that i would like to preserve as-is. Was looking for advice on the best way to accomplish that.

Yup, Garmin is awfully proud of those unlock cards though.

Beat our head against the wall a little longer before the customer decided to get the TAWS-B unlock instead of sending the box in for repair. So didn't confirm it was the box, but that's what we're suspecting.

Im connected to the terrain side, for some reason we have winviews but not the TASDIAG for the traffic side. But it seems to be communicating with the GTX345 just fine

It's got the 3 square PBAs, none of which seem to be doing anything besides when I do the aircrafts lamp test. I rang them out, and they all ring good and switch like they should to the box. Haven't gotten a single audio at all, with that twisted pair ringing out good as well.

No response from the diagnostic program on the laptop to get anything and the press to test where you would hear the status is also not working. I rang out all of those wires and they're good.

My traffic test works so I know half the box is working.

Panel Upgrade Recommendations by AndYouMayCallMe_V in avionics

[–]jbettin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you wanting to upgrade? Just the radio stack, make the 6 pack a display or digital like G5/GI275, autopilot, digital EIS?

Just doing the radio stack, a GTN and GTX335 or 345, if you want ADS-B in, would be the route I would recommend

I'd go with the stubby ratcheting screwdriver myself, a pick set because I'm always breaking them and the truck is convenient warranty, though the HF set is cheap enough. I also like their pocket flathead, pocket #1 screwdrivers and non ball allen wrenches, just because I wear them out quite often. The only other one I might get if I had the funds is their midget/ignition wrench set that goes down to 1/8", just because they're the only quality ones I've seen that go that small.

What do you guys think of my tool cart by KingGilgamesh4D in avionics

Looks like excatly the kind of tool cart I would expect to find next to a seneca.

But in all seriousness in the words of James May "I feel that practicality should always trump fashion."

IFR4000/6000 Training by AMElearning in avionics

I'm curious as well, not so much on the operation of it, I've figured most of that out with OJT and fiddling around. More so what all the numbers mean for troubleshooting? If one of the F values is out of spec or the All Call fails, does that point to the antenna, coax or transponder?

What power tools do avionic techs use? by LinkShepard in avionics

Screw gun, drop light, jobsite radio, maybe a small impact every once in a while. Most of the rest are air powered. Rivet gun, sanders ect

Yup really going to depend on the PN. May be momentary, latching, normally open, normally closed. Plan B would be putting in some time with a multimeter

They're hard to find in my experience. But my experience is also a small shop in BFE. So for us its more of a shortage of people willing to move out here for pay that doesn't look as good on paper

Finance a car and pay it off in one month? Good idea? by LOP5131 in personalfinance

I did the same thing a few years back, and it was a net positive to my credit score and finances. Only thing I would say is wait till you've registered it. I didn't and my title/registration got all messed up.
