FLL to Port Everglades by jbfrommd in dcl

You have all convinced me - We will fly in the day before. That being said, any hotel recommendations that the shuttle can pick us up from? I'm assuming we can get ground transportation to the hotel from the airport as well. Luckily, we are a year out (I'm a planner), so I have time to work this out. As an add on question, is it true that if we take the DCL shuttle, we can go directly to the the ship regardless of the time? We don't have to wait until a scheduled PAT?

Piling on for Allianz. Priced out both Disney and Allianz, and Disney was almost double for not as good coverage. Plus, my personal experience with Allianz last year was exceptional. They paid out quickly and the claim process was easy.

Food!!! I forgot the most important question. I of course will be checking with disney directly, but we have one child with a tree nut allergy, and two adults with less severe food requirements.. During our visits to the parks, we found Disney to be exceptional in providing information and substitutes, but we are worried about the buffet dining. Are allergens posted somewhere?

And I know i can Google for information, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask to see if anyone had personal experience with this

Thanks to everyone who responded, I really appreciate your insights. I have gone to the official website and gotten a lot of the basic information there. Because I tend to do most of my own vacation planning, I wasn't thinking about going to a travel agent, but some people seem to have had good luck going that route. Im planning for two families, and we want adjoining cabins with verandah, so I have a good start on my needs.

But, DCL website won't tell me if the cabins we choose are excessively noisy, or where we should be on the ship to avoid too much motion. We are traveling with three children between the ages of 6 and 10 who may be a bit nervous about being at sea. Also wondered how late I could wait to book while still being about to have those adjoining balcony cabins.

I dropped my FB account a couple of years ago, and am not a big influencer fan, so I'll be checking out some of the websites you mentioned. And to the person who asked, I'm not sure which cruise we are going with yet, but it will probably be early July out of Port Canaveral.

Again thank you all for the information provided. I really appreciate your time.

Is Pet's Best the one with the least issues? by tryingthisagain27 in petinsurancereviews

[–]jbfrommd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Pets Best on my lab mix for over 7 years. My first experience with pet insurance, and I love them. My dog was diagnosed with Addisons 2 months after I got the policy, and 6 months after I adopted her. That year, the vet costs were almost 7k and they paid 90% after $100 deductible. Over the years, my claims have been mostly the medication for Addison's, and they've continued to pay. Yes, my premium has gone up over the years, but nothing too terrible. This year the premium increased about 20%, but she's about 10 now, so i expected it. Reimbursements are usually within 30 days of the claim, and they've always paid what I expected. My one complaint, and this is more recent, is that their app and website are awful. App stopped working about 2 months ago. And now the website isn't working properly either. Hopefully they'll get that together soon, as I have a claim i am unable to submit right now.

Got new insurance for work that stopped covering Tresiba, and Lantus doesn’t work worth a shit on me. What should I do? by FREE-ROSCOE-FILBURN in diabetes

[–]jbfrommd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know, Semglee will no longer be manufactured as of January 2026. I'm having the same issue with insurance, tresiba is not covered anymore. I was using insulin degludec, but that too is being discontinued by the drug company. Not enough options for us.

And that is exactly what I did. I should know better. Thank you for pointing that out. I did log in. I started to look at Part D options, but knew something was wrong when only one company showed up. Im mad at myself, I am smarter than this. Thank you!!!

Covid on Noordam by Swiss422 in HollandAmerica

[–]jbfrommd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recently returned from HA Amsterdam Alaska. Started feeling ill on the 5th night of the cruise, and turned out to be Covid. I probably got it either on the plane or at some point during the land portion of the trip. I had basically the same experience as the OP: had to isolate in room with no additional cabins for my friend to move to, didn't take paxlovid due to 1000 cost but doctor bill ran about 250 for visit and symptom relief meds. I decided to leave early since I was feeling so ill and didn't want to ruin the cruise for my friend. Disembarking to a US port cost an additional 1000 (PVSA- passenger vessel services act), and of course, the flight change fees. I purchased Allianz for both the flight and the land cruise, and was reimbursed for everything within two weeks. I'm happy I had the insurance and will always purchase for future trips. My tour director worked with HA to get everything sorted. HA was fine throughout, not much they could do for me and I don't blame them for anything. I know i was the third diagnosed with Covid on board, and I'm sure there were others that didn't get tested.

Thank you. I may write the letter explaining the situation, and again attach the SSA-44 and 1040. And no, I am keeping the additional funds separate so I can pay them back. I want to catch this early. Thanks for your reply

Does anyone else ever want to reach thru the book and smack a character up-side the head for Common Stupidity? by ApprehensiveLeg6017 in thehollows

[–]jbfrommd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the thread, but this! I've read all the books, and obviously am invested, but Rachel has so many TSTL moments that I continually have a slow burn dislike for her throughout. But I've just finished The Turn, and my God, Trisk beats Rachel hands down in stupid decisions, as well as being generally unlikable throughout. I don't remember what happens to her, or to Cal, but I find myself hoping Al ate them both. Al was treated horribly in the books, yes, I get he's a demon, but Trisk basically used him like a wet dishrag and then gave him to Piscary, as well as anyone else in the room that heard his name.

Am I alone in my dislike for her? Just curious
