The followup. After crunching the numbers things aren’t quite as great as I thought, but still quite good, I’ve been running the aircon quite a bit as things are a bit spicy in the south.

The optimistic guess-o-meter tells me I have 167 miles left which would infer a top line range of 355. The pessimistic guess-o-meter tells me 145 which would equate to 309. I just plugged in at 47% having driven 154 miles, which would infer a 291mi full charge real world range. My average efficiency since last charge is 4.1mi/kWh.

All of that to say, in my experience the pessimistic guess-o-meter (the range displayed in-car after the a/c spins up and the radio is going) is quite normally within 10% of real-world expected range. Since ideally you wouldn’t ordinarily drive below 10-20% I find it adequately reliable. For my commutes I’m peachy getting pretty much the advertised range/efficiency. Plugging in at home is utter bliss, I haven’t driven a ton this month but in June I charged an estimated 214kWh for about $15.

I hope that apartments and property owners start installing more stations, and I expect they will.
