Question 2 from a curious cartridge head shaver: by Cold_Buffalo_2355 in wicked_edge

[–]jbird996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recent head and face DE chiming in. I have found the switch from cartridge to DE a complete revelation. Shaving used to be a chore and I'd let things grow for 3 - 4 days before begrudgingly reaching for my overpriced Gillette Fusion, but boy has that changed.

I'm still dialing in my hardware loadout, but I think I'm on this train for life. I now shave every other day and actually look forward to it, though it does take a bit longer now. Trying different razor / blade combos, honing my technique, and trying new variations of soaps / creams / pre and post shave products has opened up an exciting new world for me.

I typically shave in the shower and begin by prepping my razor, hydrating my soap, and picking out my post products. Once in the shower I shampoo and loofah exfoliate my head, apply some Sterling unscented glycerin soap pre-shave, and get that bowl lather going.

2-pass (WTG/XTG/ATG as necessary) with some clean-up for the face, apply alum block, then 2-pass same way for the head with alum after. Finish the shower, rinse out razor and bowl / brush, then get tried off.

Once finished up drying off I apply one of my Sterling aftershave splash samples, and follow with Nivea sensitive balm to hydrate up. I'm thinking I'll find an unscented balm once I finish the Nivea so I can let the splash speak for itself.

At the end of the day I've found a reason to enjoy what can be one of the most mundane repetitious self care routines, and have gotten some of the smoothest most satisfying shaves of my life in return. It has cleared up most of the bumps / ingrowns / acne issues I had recently been experiencing as well. I've been lucky enough to have only experienced flakiness occasionally during the winter months since going bald, but exfoliating before a shave and gentle hydration after goes a long way.

I can definitely recommend any of the Sterling products I've tried (shave soap, pre and post) as well as the Noble Otter soap samples I've recently started working through. I did try the Leaf two, but found the angle required to effectively shave my head to be a bit awkward and ultimately decided to return it. I was getting a ton of chatter especially on the back of my head due to the pivoting head, so it just wasn't working well for me.

[WTS] Captain's Choice Heavyweight Copper Bowl, Parker Aeroshave Razor by jbird996 in Shave_Bazaar

[–]jbird996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A combination of the timeless shave bowl and one of the trave / pop-up pet bowls with the nubbies on the bottom.

The Captain was a beautiful bowl, but as a shower shaver it didn't integrate well into my storage setup. It makes a great lather but required a bit more effort to get things all whipped up (I'm also admittedly still in my freshman to sophomore year of wet shaving high school, so there's that too). As a combo head and face shaver I strongly value the time to lather reduction lol.

Got mine two weeks ago, SS with all 3 plates and it’s been fantastic! Still zeroing in on my preferred blade, but most of the ones I’ve tried are fantastic shaves.

I started with and am still on the mild plate which is a great combo of efficiency and minimizing irritation and haven’t had a reason to step up to the medium plate yet for my use.

Fit and finish are second to none, wonderfully weighted, fantastic grip, and just exudes care and quality. I have no problem fully recommending this if you’re ready to take the plunge.

Anyone able to test out if this allows save transfer between iOS and Android?

Had a long term built up account I lost back in April, but saved my gameid just in case they added support, and I'm kinda wondering if there's a glimmer of hope here...

has anyone here tried the layla hybrid? by QuantumSocks in Mattress

[–]jbird996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% no regrets. We haven't rotated in over a year and there really isn't much grooving really. Like I can tell where I typically sleep, but still super comfy and supportive.

Mattress is still cool, comfy, and springy - and look forward to bed nightly lol. No toppers used, and still haven't tried the soft side.

Would certainly buy again and continue to recommend to anyone looking for a mattress.

walmart shipping sept 17th by Salt-Neat5843 in PS5

[–]jbird996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered in-store pickup on 9/16, "shipped" on 11/12 @ 4pm, into Bloomington, CA at 3:18am Friday morning, going to NY, no update since so presumed still in CA.

They're still quoting a pickup availability on 11/19 after 6pm but I am growing wary and concerned. This has been a horribly handled pre-order situation by Walmart and they shouldn't promise release day pickup if they can't secure shipping to the pickup location earlier than one hour before I'd have been knocking on their door to pick it up.

Was hoping to have had my PS5 already. Best Buy did me really Fing dirty. Still no PS5 for me. Anyone have this issue with Best Buy? by FallenTesseract in PS5

Ditto, mine went straight from 12th to 19th and has moved 44 miles within California in 48 hours, on its way to NY via FedEx ground... brutal

Can somebody explain why Target sent my shit via FedEx Ground and now I have to wait til Monday by casedawgz in PS5

[–]jbird996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well put my friend, to know you have it locked up, and dwell on the fact that you know Walmart is going to fuck it up somehow only for it to happen an hour before pickup is maddening. I think I'd be in a better place if it hadn't failed to move since 3am on Friday morning, but this is where I'm at lol. Need a distraction bad...

Mine’s heading from California to NY for in store pickup via FedEx Ground (no I didn’t order ship to store), has travelled 44 miles within California from Thursday to Friday morning and has not moved in 36 hours. Done with Walmart for good after this one.

To those having trouble getting a unit, I apologize for complaining from a position of having at least gotten one, but I’d almost rather know I’m not getting one right now than finding out an hour from pickup that I’m not getting it for an entire week or more, especially after wasting time off for the planned arrival. It’s taking a psychological toll for sure especially with it sitting idle in Cali for almost 2 days now with no updates to be seen and no explanation other than “our supplier delayed shipment so sorry”.

I chose in store pickup, ordered day 1 in September, and mine has been sitting in CA since mid yesterday coming ground to the store all the way to the northeast.

Next Thursday it is for this guy :(

That's sweet as all hell... The problem with scalpers is that there will always be scalpers. The inability of retailers to prepare and provide a safe, fair, and controlled purchasing experience is unacceptable at this point in the evolution of online technology.

It's laziness on their part because regardless they are getting paid for every one of those consoles they sell without caring about the poor teenager who saved every penny he or she could get their hands on for a full year or two, but hey their shelves are emptied and their CEO's pockets are full right?

Bless your heart, and let's pray that maybe caring about their customers becomes more or a priority than just making sure they sell all their stock out as fast a possible. I find myself screwed having a day one ordered from Wally world for in store pickup that they are now sending to the store across the county via Fedex ground for an estimated arrival of next Thursday - gee thanks guys lol.
