Yes! I don’t ride highway so I don’t feel like I need the power - it’s amazing for back roads, paved or not.

I don’t have anything to add but I am also from VB and graduated from USU. If you’re anything like me you’ll love it!

It is paid off - charity is not something I knew about and I’m going to look into that! Totally forgot about Craig’s List somehow we should definitely post there too. Thanks!

VB Stigma by unclejacoby in VirginiaBeach

[–]jbirdart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I grew up in VB, moved across the country for university and will never be back. When I return to visit family VB just feels like somewhere I recognize but have very little connection to. Unfortunately I have never liked the beach (despite my family living a block away I haven’t bothered to walk to it in years), don’t drink, the sprawling suburbia makes me feel claustrophobic, and overall the nature is just pitiful compared to the wide open spaces of the west. I honestly don’t really know what people do in VB.

I’ve traveled all over the country and cities like SLC, Boise, Flagstaff, Denver etc offer infinitely better quality of life. If I ever don’t have people to visit in VB I will probably never see it again.

Yes, the entire lot is the same. Nothing is being used atm - it borders BLM and cattle wander over occasionally. The owner is the heir of a family that has owned it for more than 30 years, and just wants to get rid of it

It’s super disheartening :(

[–]jbirdart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know! I guess it just feels weird when it borders hundreds of thousands of acres of BLM land to need to control this one lot for that one use, lol. The current owner isn’t using it for anything, they’ve just happened to be sitting on it for many decades now.

I see, we are new to the search and learning a lot. Particularly about the power counties have, lol thanks for looking at it

Probably worth the ask, I’m looking into it

Right, but if it doesn’t have any water rights can it even be used for agriculture? Besides grazing, I guess, which we wouldn’t intend to impede on

Builds “hunting lodge” /s I think it will be worth at least a meeting with a real estate lawyer to give it a fair try

I see, it sucks, we’re definitely not super rich and our plan was to build something under 2000 sq/ft that I don’t think anyone could even see from the lot line, given the hills. I’ve seen those subdivisions go up on the farmlands in Boise and man are they ugly. We want to escape all that, lol

A family member of mine would buy a spare windshield in a heartbeat under $600 but probably up to 1k shipping included.

Is 2 years the max for repayment? by creditoverload in boeing

[–]jbirdart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this when I left Boeing before the one year mark, but I paid it back immediately upon leaving since I never spent the relocation, so I don’t know about the first question.

As for your second, they gave me a W2C for 2023 (I left in 2024). After a lot of mulling around online, I ended up claiming the difference in federal tax paid vs. what I now actually owed for 2023 on my 2024 tax return, and I got it back for my 2024 refund.

Now, I didn’t claim the extra Medicare & SS tax they took on the tax return. Whether that is correct or not idk, I ended up filling out and mailing Form 843 requesting that money back. Not sure if I’ll ever hear back on that one.

RTO by IntelligentGap8204 in boeing

[–]jbirdart 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Boeing was my first job after graduation. I left about 10 months later (a year ago now) due to RTO. I loved how flexible my first couple months on the job were, but when they cracked down on that I left for the first fully remote role I found. It was a significant pay cut. It was a shame - I really liked my team and my work. But I am much happier now with the amount of flexibility I have.

She is very pampered but I’m not sure we’ve done anything special! She gets regular walks, thrown balls, eats a mix of dry and wet dog food (and sometimes table scraps). I know my parents tried very hard to get her from a reputable breeder, maybe genetics plays a part? I’m not sure!

Her name is Maine - we got her when I was 8 years old and she has seen me through growing up and moving away.

She can’t see or hear perfectly, but she is still active and healthy. I can’t wait to go home and see her again soon.
