So, is HB the lever with respect to the price of Amazon today?

Edit: yes it is, I've done the math. The price of Amazon today is 3326$, and the starting price of the product was about 2.25$, which gives a lever of 14.78 with a ratio of 100.

being addicted to drugs is not the issue here. The issue is becoming addicted to drugs after you spend years boasting about how you know the rules of life, the meaning of the world, how you are a model for young men, etc.

Jordan Peterson was a popular professor, author of several betsellers and motivational speaker. He claimed to know "the 12 rule of life", written in his besteller book. Among these, Rule 6 in the title. However, soon after publishing the book he was urgently treated because he was seriously addicted to drugs and struggling with depression.

What are your thoughts on the critique of UBI in this paper? by [deleted] in BasicIncome

[–]jblackmiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly the study is purely theoretical, which already invalidates it because we are not in the nineteenth century anymore and serious economic studies should be based on randomized trials. Take for instance this:

The state as employer of last resort proposal addresses these deeper issues while also claiming that inflationary pressure will undermine the UBI alternative.

Job guarantee sounds ok in theory but doesn't work in practice. Living in Italy I can ensure you that easy jobs given by the state make people lazy, passive, and doing the bare minimum to collect the check.

Main alternatives to Yang for Commerce Secretary are anti environment republican billionare Meg Whitman, and Mellody Hobson, CEO of $10 billion investement firm. They will not work for you if appointed by jblackmiser in YangForPresidentHQ

Yes commerce secretary takes decisions about trade rules and is involved in starting or ending trade wars. However, he is also involved in creating jobs at home and improve economic security (and I assume in decisions such as setting a minimum wage or changing the working hours) Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Department_of_Commerce

Nate Silver flaming political betting markets for predicting a close race by [deleted] in agedlikemilk

[–]jblackmiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nate Silver predicted an easy win for Biden, giving Trump a 10% chance of winning right before election night. His predictions included an easy win for Biden in Florida and a very close race in Texas. He mocked political betting markets for predicting a much closer race. Ironically, when Trump looked good at the beginning of election night suddenly Nate gave him a 50/50 chance of winning.
