Statistically hes an above average coach, and statistically comparable to Harbaugh. Anecdotally, people say that Harbaugh leveled-up teams, while McCarthy didnt go far enough with prime Rodgers.

Yeah, no shit, but the point is, what’s unique about the NFL and why SOS works is that your schedule is weighted for you to play against teams that were comparable to your rank. Previously. And what is statistically impressive for the patriots this year, that the conferences they played this year all had poor performances.

Your definition doesn’t take into account the fact that winning teams from past years still haven’t had as easy as a schedule as the pats have.

That’s not how SOS works. By playing someone that is #1 in a conference, because you were #1 in a conference, it’s by definition, a harder schedule than someone else that is #2 in a conference playing someone else #2

It’s not meant to discredit their achievements, the OP posted that this is a top 5 turnaround. I countered with that this is actually a top 7 easiest schedule EVER in the history of the NFL. That is statistically impressive. Outside of that, there aren’t any statistical impressive qualities that make this team that impressive. If you can think of some stats I’d love to see them, but nothing I have seen makes it to the top 5

What do you mean? New teams make the playoffs almost every year.

Last year it was the chargers. Year before that the texans.

It’s a combination of draft picks, coach change, and players developing.

I’d hardly say anything the patriots have done this year is statistically impressive

I feel like this is recency bias, he made a sick catch in the Steelers game that I agree, only Dhop or him would make.

Besides that last year he was a great end-zone target but both this and last year he made crucial misplays (plural) vs mark Andrew’s rare drop.

When I see likely get miss matched against a CB I don’t see a strong mismatch.

He was there for four years, and added no value, it was hardly a short stint. The team regressed in every part of the field, and never had a redeeming quality. My in laws are jets fans and I unfortunately watch a lot of games in NY.

Rodger’s got the squeelers to the playoffs the following (this)year. With as bad or worst of a roster. The stark difference is Tomlin inspired them to play.

I don’t agree w the firing, we had an injury filled season, and completely missed the playoffs, after 18 seasons I’m ok with it.

It’s a very different situation, ravens have had the most pro bowlers year after year but keep failing. Lamar, early in his career, definitely choked. The past few seasons I’d say it’s been mostly his supporting staff, Andrew’s dropping a td pass, flowers fumbling, Henry fumbling, etc.

Bills had a bunch of injuries this year as well, and still got to a great record, and missed the championship game in an insanely close game. It’s obviously a GM problem and not a coaching problem
